Stacy raised his gun, fired, and landed one hell of a shot – by his estimate “a good 165 yards” – with a pistol (we do not know the make or caliber at this time). Stacy wasn’t even sure if he could make the shot at that distance: “I hope this magnum bullet’ll hold up, you know, this distance. And sure enough it did and I hit him in the thigh.”
My hat is off to the gentleman.

Way to go for Mr. Stacy :-). It takes alot for people to do “the right thing” in some parts of Our Great Country 🙂
Amen to that! “Luck” shot or not, he stepped up and took action where most folks would have run or whipped out a cellphone to take videos.
Fundamentals pays off, sight alignment and complete trigger control to make those hits.
He did what needed to be done, when it needed to be done
M. Stacy, way to go in doing the right thing in helping your neighbors! This takes tremendous courage.
That being said, I do have difficultly in believing the advertised distance. I can put hardly put 1 of 5 shots in a 100yrd distanced man sized target. Without stress, which he would certainly be under. But this is just me.

I just read somewhere that the human body is a big target. Elevation is not a problem, only windage. It might be a tad shorter distance, but the .357 Mag can reach and pass the 165 yard mark easy.

re: the brownwoodnews.com article: no doubt they mean well, but what’s with the reference to a “.9 mm handgun”? (Yeah, I know it’s an easy typo to make, but if they’re going to provide specific details it would be good to get them right. 9mm is a bullet; 0.9 mm is a pencil lead.)
165 yrd.s in a trailer park? Read the account…he was watching TV…Heard and saw….probably maybe 65 yards?..yea.. And the good guys Won and Mr. Stacy is still a Hero!! 🙂
Bullet would take about 0.3 seconds to reach the target (125 gr @ 1600 fps) at 165 yards. Not a whole lotta drop there.

Iron sights. Even With a Scope on a pistol that’s
