I saw Miguel’s post while I was working on another post.  I decided to drop that one and write this one instead.

From KXAN Austin:

Community mourns Garrett Foster who was fatally shot during downtown Austin protest

Police confirmed Sunday evening that Foster was shot multiple times after a car turned into a group of demonstrators at 4th Street and Congress Avenue. The driver of that car told police they had fired a handgun at someone who approached their driver-side window and pointed an assault-type weapon at them. Demonstrators who were present that night, however, tell KXAN this driver “aggressively accelerated” into the crowd of people.

Less than a month ago I posted about protesters who shot a driver after they blocked in his car at an intersection in Provo, Utah.

The post I was working was about protesters shooting at a Jeep in Aurora, Colorado.

This was the scene in on I-225 in Aurora, Colorado, how protesters were handling traffic.

That is some scary shit.

A guy in a blue Jeep Wrangler didn’t stop for the protests and barreled on through.

Protesters shot at his Jeep.  You can hear the shots in the video.

A protester with an F-250 rammed the Jeep before it was shot at.

You can see the damage done to the Jeep.

Aerial video shows the Jeep going trough the protest but not swerving to hit protesters as protesters throw things at the Jeep.

The driver pulled over and was met by police (seen in above Tweet) but was not handcuffed.  Suggesting that the driver was not deliberately trying run over protests – as the protesters accuse – but was trying to get out of a threatening situation like the driver in Oklahoma I recently covered.

So right now, for a driver caught in a protest it is dangerous as hell.  These people are attacking cars, shooting at cars, threatening drivers.

So this guy in Austin, probably with all this on his mind, sees a protester coming towards him with an AK, possibly pointing it at him.

The driver was probably scared shitless and decided to drop Mr. OC before Mr. OC put a bunch of extra holes in his car.

I don’t care if Garret was a 2A guy.  He played a stupid game and won a stupid prize.

These protests are not the time and place to open carry.  There is too much stupid shit going on and all you are going to do is make a target out of yourself.

Stay the fuck home before you get confused for the enemy and get ventilated.

  1. J.kb from my lady who is in contact with some of Foster’s friends, they are expressing sympathy and are of the opinion that Foster was playing stupid games and won the stupid prize.

He f’d up big time when he muzzled the driver and the driver responded.

  2. “Stay the fuck home before you get confused for the enemy and get ventilated.”

Confused? The idiot ran up to a car that was being mobbed. Why would he do that? He was joining the mob. He wasn’t confused for an enemy — he WAS an enemy.

  3. Nothing wrong with open carry for self-defense, but joining the mob in attacking a motorist isn’t self-defense.

He played stupid games, and won a stupid prize.

  4. Watched the video of damage to the Jeep finally. Amazing the big lie in that headline. “Didn’t stop”. Nope, they met up with the police to report.

And while documenting the damage, notice the well framed shot of the license plate. I wonder how long it will be until that’s turned into a name and address…

    1. I was thinking the same thing. If there is any of that type of violence that begins in my area, I will be removing the plates from my car. If I am pulled over, I will act surprised and ask if I can report my plates stolen.

I won’t have these animals hunting me.

  5. So the “mostly-peaceful” protesters have graduated to using vehicles as weapons now if you don’t accede to their demands?

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
