Tyler Childers probably the best young Bluegrass player I have heard in a while.

He was born and raised in Lawrence County, Kentucky and his father was a coal miner.  His music is authentic, not cooked up in a music studio in Nashville.  You can tell because it hits you right in the soft spot.

And my God, that voice.

These are three of my favorite and I think his best:

  1. This blog is my morning news, been reading for years. Thank you guys very much for what you do. I think this is my 1st comment on your guys’ site. Tyler Childers is flipping amazing, one of the few artists that gives me goose bumps every time I listen to him, no doubt every word is spoken from his heart. Thank you Sir for the post, made my morning.

  2. This guy is amazing. My mom grew up in coal country, not Appalachia, but Southern Wyoming. The region was different, but in many cases life was the same. The family has numerous stories about cousins, uncles, and other extended family members who were killed in the mines or on the railroad the mines served.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
