This is one of two local Bass Pro Shops.  We were out Sunday afternoon and I decided to drop by to get me some trebble hooks and check the inventory

Only 6mm and 7mm and the wife standing next to me so i would not make a run for the gun counter.  I don’t know in other locations, but since this particular one opened, they always had at least two pallets’ worth of shotgun shells right in the aisle next to the three ammunition aisles; the above is only half of one side of an aisle as the rest was occupied by other knickknacks and accesories to cover the absence of calibers. It was depressing to say the least, and yet people were crowding the counter buying guns.

And this was on the entrance of Bass Pro. This is how you do it.

PS: There is a range in the premises and they do this for safety purposes if you are planning on doing some shooting.

  1. Aye same here. Cabelas brought out two boxes of PPU .38 special when I was there and people were following behind the guy looking like sharks after chum the entire time. Previously they held back a box or two of ball/range and self defense ammo to sell with firearms in times of panic but now they’re not even able to do that anymore.

None of the box stores have anything but turkey and bird shot for odd gauges, 16, 28, so on but a local chain with some LEO purchasing power has been getting regular fixins of some common stuff.

I have never, ever, in my life seen it like this and the one chain with ammo I mentioned had a line wrapped around the building to buy mostly handguns but a lot of them tried for some type of MSR or battle rifle depending on their age and spare cash.

  2. Place I work at part-time:
No handgun ammo for sale, what’s left has been set back for those buying or renting a gun.
Almost all common rifle ammo sold out, some .223/5.56 held back for buyers/renters.
No primers, very little powder, little in the way of bullets for reloading.
Keep running out of cleaning kits, cleaner/oil very short.
The safe department is busier than ever before.
    Keep running out of magazines.

Amazingly, I still get asked by some “Why can’t I find any ammo?” Apparently a fair number of people either pay no attention to the news, or don’t see how it affects this.

One shop in town, I was told they were selling baggies of 50 rounds of 9mm for $35. Fast as they can make it.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
