…exempts persons who are authorized to carry a firearm pursuant to an enhanced handgun carry permit or a concealed handgun carry permit from the criminal offense of possessing a firearm in a concealed manner at a meeting conducted by, or on property owned, operated, or managed or under the control of the individual, corporation, business entity, or government entity that is properly posted
As I read it, it makes locations with GFZ signs available to those with Enhanced or Regular Handgun Permits.
This would be a monumental hit to Gun Free Zones everywhere in TN, but I will predict it will not pass and not because the opposition of the Gun Control cadre but because I am already hearing the Chest Thumpers whining and bitching about being bad law because it only covers those with permits.
The concept of achieving goals by attrition and incremental progress still escapes too many on our side.
And by the way, the avalanche of gun control bills introduced in the past few days is amazing. We are up for a nasty ride.
is Tennessee a Constitutional carry state?
Depends on who you ask.
Ask a Legislator or the Governor: Yes!
Ask an industry lobbying group like the Tennessee Firearms Association: No.
Its permitless carry, but there are restrictions that don’t apply to you if you have a permit.
Senate version: No Cosponsors
House version: One Cosponsor
GOP Legislators, more than normal humans, want to be seen as “winners” who “accomplish” things. Looking at cosponsors is a good indicator of how likely a bill is to pass. They will sign up to have their name attached to things that they know will pass, and will avoid things they know won’t get out of committee.
FedEx will not allow this to happen.
I am always smirking when I read comments about the status of 2A in New York State and how we 2A practioners in NYS don’t give a hoot about our rights, should just move out, are weak, compliant slaves, etc.
I say; Just wait. You are now experiencing what we are experiencing. The tyrrany of ideological rule, partisan political philosophy turned in to action. The torrent of unconstitutional laws and bills won’t stop until the composition of your ruling class does.
