The latest meme from the Anti Second Amendment crowd is “We need a conversation about guns” as implying that they are the sensitive/cordial/intelligent side willing to sit down and come to reasonable solution.

The problem is that we had the conversation already. Hell, for many years it was not much of a conversation but their side just hollering and spouting propaganda at the willing sycophants in the media while we were trying to counter their attacks…excuse me.. “conversation.”

  • When Florida passed its concealed weapons law, your “conversation” was to scream to the heavens that a new era of Wild West Shootings were about to begin. “Blood on the streets” was the recurring motto. Twenty five years later the stats showed you were wrong, year after year.
  • When other states followed suit and even surpassed Florida on Gun Laws favoring gun ownership for the Civilians, your “conversation” swore on a stack of bibles that we were about to see an increase of violent crime like never seen since Sodom and Gomorrah and the Fall of the Roman Empire. We are now at a 40 year low for all types of violent crimes, yet you have not had the guts to admit you were wrong.
  • Your “conversation” still says that we Gun Owners are just criminals waiting to misuse out guns. Yet those statistics you forced states to keep in order to track us and “absolutely prove” civilians shouldn’t have weapons keep demonstrating we are better Law Abiding citizens by a factor of five than the average US Citizen and scores if compared against members of Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
  • When the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City was bombed, your “conversation” immediately accused the NRA and Gun Owners of the attack even before the victims were rescued or accounted for and even after Timothy McVeigh had confessed. We never received an apology for that “conversation.”
  • When we warned that the Gun Free Zones you were demanding in order to “feel” safe were potential killing zones, you “conversation” got shrilly and assured people that it was a perfectly safe place for family and friends. Of course, the crazy and the criminal were not deterred by the law and went on to attack people inside those Gun Free Zones. But instead of admitting you were wrong, your “conversation” blamed the attacks on Gun Owners because it was easier than saying “We are responsible for those deaths.”
  • For many years your “conversation” kept saying that The Right Of The People as stated in the Second Amendment was actually a collective right but never explained how come The Right Of The People in the other amendments was an individual right. We took it all the way to the Supreme Court and our side of the “conversation” won the ruling but you still will not accept it.
  • Your “conversation” as of lately has progressed into demanding that Gun owners should be treated like terrorists, stripped of their rights and arrested ‘en masse.’ We are “insurrectionists” (and just like our Forefathers, very proud to be called that) and even “Traitors against the Government.” I have news for you Sparky: Being against any administration is not treason, hell it is not even codified as such in the Constitution. Treason is a crime against the United States and the Government is NOT the United States. U.S. Constitution, Article Three, Section Three :Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. There you go, you should have paid more attention during civics class.

I could go on and on, but one thing is clear:

The Conversation is over. You Lied And Lost. We Won. Get Over It.

  1. I had a conversation w/ Colin a couple of times. In one he told me there were super secret kits sold only at gun shows to convert any semi-auto into a machinegun. He’d seen them. In another he supported Texas style CCW while at the same time he was advocating against Illinois CCW bills which had even stricter standards.

They don’t allow him to converse w/ me anymore.

Whenever we try and have a conversation on their FB pages or Twitter, we get deleted and blocked.

That right there says it all…

    2. “Whenever we try and have a conversation on their FB pages or Twitter, we get deleted and blocked.”

Interesting that the groups saying they want “conversation” or “Discussion” seem to be working overtime to make sure said conversation NEVER happens.

And of course the conversation was had without them, and they’ve been wrong every time!

Hell, I used to be an anti, and the fact that the anti-rights side is ALWAYS wrong is why I switched over and am still buying guns.

  2. You’re right, it’s time for a conversation, but instead of the dead topic of gun bans/control yea or nea, how about:
-Let’s get rid of a bunch of the silly laws on the books. The 1986 and 1992 bans are pretty much worthless, so lets toss them. And face it, that GCA of 1968 isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.

-Plus, why don’t we discuss that NFA of 1934- the one that regulates machine guns, sound suppressors, and short barrel rifles & shotguns. I want that tossed entirely, but I’m willing to talk. Maybe get rid of the restrictions on silencers and short barrel rifles, but deregulate the red tape necessary for a full auto?

  3. In the context of the bullet point #5 on Gun Free Zones and his t-shirt logo that, “We are better than this” I agree, but in a strange way. Colin Goddard, I wish you were better than what you did, or rather what you did NOT do! You did not put up any meaningful resistance to an armed murderer killing those around you. Not even throwing chairs or barricading the door.

Colin Goddard, you only survived by sheer luck when you were cowering. Well, that was your choice. Not everyone is a lion-heart. The real black mark on your character is that you demand others take this same approach. It failed! Gun Free Zones are an invitation to disaster and you want to mandate this on the rest of us! Well, I’d rather die on my feet trying to stop it, than follow your example that has next to zero chance of success.

Colin Goddard, your mentality is akin to asking a rape victim to “think of England” rather than to fight back and possibly prevent the rape. Just how could you take away the polar opposite lesson from the VT tragedy? If you were put in the same position again, would you be still come out as a gun control activist and Gun Free Zone proponent?

Guess what Colin, WE are better than this. Those who believe in self-defense and want to protect ourselves, and possibly the innocent lives around us, will not let evil prevail.

    1. This is a very good explanation of his behavior, the feeling of remorse and guilt for not even trying to save himself let alone his class mates. The helplessness of that time has fermented into a rage that is just below the surface trying to escape. So he is acting out against the gun, the only inadament object that he can lash out at and not destroy himself in the process.

  4. Oddly enough, their “Gun Free Zones” work. All law-abiding gun-toting citizens either left the area, or left their guns outside the area. There were no “potential terrorist average gun-carrying citizens” inside those zones with guns. Only the criminals had guns. So ya gotta give em props for that, for proving that gun owners/carriers actually ARE law-abiding citizens. Its too steep a price to pay for a lesson learned, and the blood is on the anti’s hands.

  5. I…

I cannot fathom the stupidity in which disarming a people would make em free.

“Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest.” — Mahatma Gandhi

  6. RabidAlien: You are exactly right. Their Gun Free Zone worked as they desired and people died. Makes you want to ignore the “no guns” signs if they do not carry the force of law, and now, maybe even if they do!

I would like to see victims sue establishments that post these signs to require disarmament and yet take no security precautions. The push back that I have received on this has been that it won’t work. Well, I’m not a lawyer and I’m just musing on what might be a next step.

  7. Reminds me of LawDog’s post on their view of compromise.

1930: We have a complete cake.
1934: They take half the cake. Tell us thank you for the compromise.
1968: They take another 1/4 of the cake. Thanks for the compromise.
1986: They take another 1/8 of the cake. Thanks!
    1994: Take another chunk. Thanks!
2004: Oops, there was a candle on that part. You can have it back.

He said it better than I do.

  8. Most of their Facebook pages, websites, etc will ban you for even talking pro gun, trying to reason with them, post facts like this etc etc. They are just little crybabies who never been loved and just seek attention.

Best thing to do is to ignore them (in a way) not include them in the conversation kinda like they will be arguing with them self’s and all your doing is pointing out facts and not addressing them and proving they are idiots and don’t know what they are talking about

  9. Yes….let’s have a conversation!
Say hello to my little friends…
    Messrs. Smith and Wesson,
Colonel Colt, Mrs. Colt, and Colt Junior,
    Mr. Ruger,
    Major Mauser,
    Doctor Enfield,
    Senor Sig,
    etc.
