Hmmm. This means at least one Wobbly of my acquaintance is now a Patriot Extremist. Which, given the history of Feds vs. Wobblies, does seem a mite peculiar.

Why is DARPA involved in this? Aren’t they essentially the DoD’s mad scientist division, tasked with coming up with the newest things? (By the way, I’m convinced that the “UFO” sightings are probably the new things DARPA has create).
That’s one heck of a good question. Yes, you described DARPA right. They are the people who, many decades ago, brought us what’s now the Internet — once known as the ARPAnet.
Not exactly. DARPA is the bunch of bureaucrats who solicit proposals for really hard stuff, and then fund the ones they like. The research isn’t done in-house.
