By the prevailing “logic,” the end of winter should have seen Florida’s streets littered with dead bodies and its hospitals overwhelmed. DeSantis and his allies should have been forced to do penance to the Branch Covidian Church and bend the knee to the altar of Fauci, Patron Saint of Wuhan (to steal a Tucker Carlson line). But the sky never fell. In fact, Florida’s numbers weren’t all that dissimilar to those in California and other states with similar population densities. And despite its huge proportion of elderly residents and status as a retirement destination, the state currently ranks 28th out of 50 in deaths per million, and, even more significantly, it ranks below the national average in that category.

A close second was the death of RBG. The fact that RBG miscalculated in not retiring during the Obama years because she wanted to have her replacement named by the first female President was perhaps the largest error made by a Democrat since they permitted the sunset provision into the 94 AWB.

In days past it was a golden calf, but the idea is the same in both cases.
Deimocrats (spelling intentional) have been worshiping politicians as living deities for at least a couple of decades now; probably longer, if you count anti-worship of those literally-Satan politicians of that other party.
I’m sure The Insidious Dr. Flu Manchu is basking in the adulation, as are the other living deities portrayed in that series of dollies (Cartagia Harris, Obtusia Alexandra-Quartet, Bernie Sandinthegears, and the rest).
Leftists see government as a goal. In their world, the elected leader is someone that is adored by the masses, that stands on the high balcony with cheering crowds below.
Reality often disappoints them, which explains their suppression of contrasting ideas, demonizing their opponents, and strict adherence to the narrative. (Ignoring any evidence to the contrary.)
