I think we are reaching (or have reached) the level where any special consideration for women is pretty much gone. The attitude of “I can get away with it” followed by the surprised face when they really don’t and end up in a ton of crap is just precious. And for trying to escape a $80 ticket, the lady is facing 5 years in prison just on kicking the cop.

Some individuals treat their gender / sexual preference / skin color / religion / country of origin / disability / whatever, as a permission slip for being abusive to others. And just like “normal” abusive people, the longer they get away with it, the worse their behavior tends to become until, finally, they push it too far.
At which point I have zero sympathy because, at the end of the day, there’s very little excuse for acting like an ass in the first place, let alone because of one’s gender / etc.

My grandparents (my Uncle now) ran a Deli in Hallendale Beach (also known as hell’s waiting room).
The old ladies would steal everything that wasn’t nailed down. They had the stickiest fingers ever. And they knew, just knew, that none of the young men working at the deli would confront little old misses Finkelstein over the items she dropped in her purse while waiting for their bagels.
If they did get caught, the would give a loud sob story how they are some poor retiree on a fixed income.
There was nothing that we could do.
Watching a cop taze some crotchety old lady with an attitude makes me happy.

That’s unlikely. Is it SOP in that state and department to arrest people who refuse to sign tickets? If so, he’s fine. After she opted to flee, the felony stop he conducted would have happened anywhere. It looks harsh because she’s an older woman, but you don’t have to be young and fit to fire a gun. I don’t see how he did anything out of line. Put a 19 year old guy in her place and this is just another ho-hum police video. How many have we seen where police pull someone over for a mundane offense like this, only to wind up rolling around on the ground with that person, or worse?

Am I the only one that finds it deeply disturbing how hard they crack down on such things? I would’nt even call it an offense.

You made a contract with the state when you accepted a driver’s license and to use the roads. One of the items you agreed was to have you vehicle’s equipment in good working order.. She did not have it and by what is said in the video, she knew it, was warned about before and chose to continue driving in violation for over 6 months.
That was the thing. She admitted she knew it was busted for 6 months, he HAD to do something.
Last time I was pulled over for a ticket it was a burnt out tail light.
Yes officer, no officer. Here is my DL and insurance. Sign the ticket, fix the light, get it checked &signed off at the police station on Tuesday or Thursday from 8-3 within 30 days. The last part sucked, because I worked fifty miles away on day shift, and Friday was our days off.
Being polite and reasonable works 99.9% of the time. I have been let go for 80+ in a 60 zone because I pulled over using my turn signals immediately in a safe location.
“Yes officer, I knew about it … In fact I’m on my way to Auto Zone right now to get a replacement bulb.”
You’ll see more and more of this as body cameras become more prevalent, and more people complain about what they perceive as unfair treatment by law enforcement. Everyone gets treated equally. This is a double edged sword, as getting let off for minor offenses becomes less frequent.
That said, I’m pretty sure here in NY, if you don’t sign a ticket, you don’t get arrested, they just give you the ticket anyway and say “Ok, you have to come to court on this date no matter what”.
