There are a lot of sad people out there who believe that there’s nothing positive in their lives. It’s not that surprising that such people would latch on to the “solution” to Orange Man Bad.
That and, as PT Barnum was to have said, there’s a sucker born every minute.
I’ve been proposing this is why the post-op transgender suicide rate is so much higher than the pre-op.
You’re miserable, nothing’s good in your life. A doctor says “Oh, you were born in the wrong body.” Great, now you have an answer. You sign up for expensive and life-changing drugs and possibly an expensive and invasive surgery.
And nothing gets better.
@Entity325: I have read stories hypothesizing that same idea. Very sad.
I believe a number of transgender/former trans people have said exactly that.
And that it’s the reason some hospitals won’t do the operation anymore.
