Singapore has some of the lowest crime rates in the world. They have the second lowest murder rate in the world; only 16 people were murdered with a population of 5 million. If you are caught with a gun, you will be sentenced to death by hanging. The same for selling drugs. No trial, just death. What a great law.Why can’t the U.S. take some lessons from other countries? Why does the U.S. have to be No. 1 in many categories?

I am not amazed that people like Mr. Hunter are walking the Earth and voting. I am amazed that a newspaper would publish a letter to the editor in which the author wants to execute fellow citizens without even the benefit of a kangaroo trial (Singapore does go through a trial, contrary to what Mr. Hunter wrote.)
And that is why we carry.
Yet I bet that Mr. Hunter was one of the folks decrying the caning of Michael Fay for his vandalism!

People like this image themselves to be the hangman, doling out the justice they see fit.
It’s easy to want a society that puts a boot on the neck of the people if you want to be the person wearing the boot.
How about we modify his blood lust suggestion. How about we execute criminals who use a firearm in the commission of a violent crime (e.g. robbery, rape, assault, murder)?
I would be on board for that. However, no restrictions and no penalties for lawful carry.
Oh, and by the way, the societal reason for their low crime and murder rates is that they ruthlessly enforce their stringent laws there as compared to our common plea bargains, reduced sentences, easy parole, work releases and the overall revolving door of justice. They know that crime does not pay. Our justice system is a poor joke. Still, I want a system that protects the innocent, so any reforms have to be modest.

Why don’t we speed up the death row line and implement this as a penalty for all the violent crimes committed with a firearm? Oh, right; the death penalty is cruel and unusual punishment…the hypocrisy continues.

The biggest reason for low crime is the rest of their severe punishments for lawbreakers. Remember Michael Fay, the American teen who became famous for being sentenced to struck six times with a bamboo cane as punishment for vandalism?
If he thinks these ways are so great,I am sure they have room for one more,but he better hope they don’t have the death penalty for stupidity he won’t last long.Thank God real Americans stand up for their rights.
