I’ve gotten to the point that animal abuse bothers me a LOT more than child abuse, especially among our more diverse citizens. Here in Cincinnati, we just had an 11 year old boy shot and killed, and I’m just “another day in the ghetto, so what else is new?”
I had friends who had Dobbies, and they were great with kids; treated with kindness, love and…snacks.
As a dog trainer since 1988, I have experience with German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Pit Bulls Breeds, Dobermans, one Cane Corso. Over the past 13 months I’ve been training my new dog, a Kangal aka Anatolian Shepherd. He is still growing and is currently at 100 lbs. He has the most vigilant investigative characteristics of any dog I’ve worked with. From five months on, he’s been the ultimate guard dog, it’s in his genetics to kill anything he believes is a threat to his domain. I don’t use any type of corporal punishments and I never use treats. I opt for time and persistent persuasion starting with the liability factors first, always bringing the dog to his failure points within my objective and then correcting them, which he believes is the greatest playtime ever, every time very eager to interact.

He’s been one of the best at desiring above all things to please me in all situations…..so far. “No Bite” was the first command which started at four months with food, sticks and bones, and presently he’s got it down to perfection. In this video, this Doby needed that discipline instilled in him, I see that he got confused in the frenzy, and went after his handler who was unable to terminate his natural nature to retaliate and dominate.

My boy cannot be trusted outside of the house or vehicle without my control present. He’s secured to a cable tether when in the vehicle, which allows him ten feet of travel outside the parameter. He must be leashed at all times when not tethered or in the fenced in yard. My eight-foot fence is constructed to be unclimbable because this breed climbs. He’s a real liability but, when commanded to stop, come, sit, laydown, no bite, bite, attack, he does so with great enthusiasm. I call, he comes, every time. He is currently going through scent training, guns, ammo, (all types of oils and powders) money (coins and paper), capsaicin, knife metals, and visual weaponry identification. He sneezes when getting a whiff of a pepper spray dispenser. Loves ‘find the hidden things’ game.

This breed will not play fetch, nor tug of war, but loves to play ruff and I have the bruises to prove it. Like Plague Monk, I too have a connection to dogs more than people, it’s always been that way from childhood on.

In the video, the dog was correcting the animals who abused him. He was being a good boy, returning the same attention he was receiving.
Yup, irrational improper training tactics always backfire, which is only natural to a two-dimensional thinking animal–you give me force I give you force, now let’s escalate and see who bites harder.
Dude 99% chance this was some sort of dog fighting related training OR the dog is being trained to be mean and vicious for status. No better or proper training is ever going to happen here and this wasn’t a training lapse of any sort.
Lenard, you say this was not a case of a training lapse or any sort, and better or proper training was impossible, which would then mean the people involved intended the result they got, and incompetent to achieve anything better. Your assumption I guess, could be apparently true. I’d put money on the fact you’re right.

My statement was coming from my professional experience. To defuse a bomb which you design, with a command, and restart the same bomb with another command, should be the goal of an intelligent trainer. Controlling destruction is the objective. What good is an attack dog that can’t be controlled? Producing one positive and several unknown negatives is a net negative. Civil lawsuits and criminal charges are almost certain. My statement was, this Doby needed that level of professional training. I stand by that; I am The Dog Whisperer.
