Month: April 2013

When SHTF, stopping blood loss is the most important thing.

But the remarkable, universal survival one week later of all others injured in the blasts is a testimonial to fast care at the scene, on the way to hospitals, then in emergency and operating rooms. Everyone played a part, from doctors, nurses and paramedics to strangers who took off belts to use as tourniquets and staunched bleeding with their bare hands.

A couple of months back I took a basic class on initial gunshot wound treatment and patient handling. Basically was to prep somebody injured so it survives long enough to get him to paramedics or even a hospital. One of the things that we got taught basically is if the wound looks bad enough, skip the niceties and go straight for the tourniquet where it can be applied.

Mind you, this is a class taught for an urban center where rescue personnel is fairly fast responding to calls in 6-9 minutes. Still, knowing that a good arterial wound can kill a patient in about 4-5 minutes, the concept of applying a tourniquet is not the “ZOMG! He is gonna lose that limb” that it used to be. As we were told, you can live without a leg but not without blood.

My personal guideline is: Blood Slow & Dark = Apply Pressure and bandage good & tight. Blood Fast and Bright = Tourniquet.

PS: We were also told that the use of clotting agents is not well seen by ER personnel b because they are hard to clean and should only be used if the patient will take a long time arriving to an ER or the wound is in a location that a tourniquet cannot be used and other means to quench the flow have failed.

CSGV: Too Dumb for Words part 2. (Graphic Content)

CSGV Tsarnaev brothersThis is the kind of stuff that makes you wonder how the CSGV leaders and its followers are capable of breathing without instructions. The Tsarnaev brothers are scum terrorists that placed two ILLEGAL explosive devices (one of them next to an 8-year-old boy), killed three people, wounded over 140 without batting an eye. Yet these unremitting idiots just concentrate on one act because it fits their sick agenda of destroying our Bill of Rights and saying “Fuck You, you don’t count” to everybody else, no matter how grievously they were affected. Do notice that they don’t even mention the name of the Officer they are trying to exploit as Sean Collier is nothing more than a nameless, faceless prop in their cheap horror movie they so hard are trying to sell.

CSGV: Too dumb for words.

Apparently, the NRA will not allow you to quit membership according to Ladd & Josh. It is VERY hard you know?
CSGV ResignSo they give you a link to this podiatrist from California who did a full research on how to quit the NRA. Apparently it is a very hard process.

1. Draft a resignation letter, use the terms “resign membership” and include your member number. Here is a sample resignation letter that you can use or draft your own similar to it.

2. Use first class US postal stamp and mail to the address provided in the letter.

3. Keep a copy of the letter and request confirmation that the membership has been terminated.

4. Follow-up in 2 weeks if no confirmation has been received by calling 1-877-NRA-2000 or email membership@nrahq.org

That’s it. That is the complicated maneuvers and legal steps required to leave the NRA.
For the short useless minds of CSGV and its followers, the concept of stamps and mail has to be insurmountable since it requires a certain amount of manual dexterity.

I am still baffled at the fact that by just simply NOT renewing the NRA membership, you are in fact leaving the organization yet both the author of the treatise and CSGV apparently fail to even think about this avenue of approach.

Glock KaBoon: Reloads.

Found this one in Facebook’s TacStrike page and I had to steal.glock kaboom Bit of info explaining…

I know ammo is scarce but don’t go to unreputal reloaders to save a couple of dollars. If you do and start to see malfunctions, STOP! and don’t push your luck. Bad things happen with junk. Luckily the injuries were minor but the pistol is toast. ~ Rob T

40 cal. This happened during a weapon retention exercise so te magazine was pressed against the body of the shooter. Rob

Squib, if it was over pressure it would more than likley blow out the unsupported part of the case, split the frame and blow the mag out, it would more than likely not blow the barrel like that, as someone indicated you can see the bulge in the barrel. I have seen this happen twice on a Glock, once on a Smith and once on an H&K and each time someone got a 9mm mixed in their 40S&W, it will fit in the mag, it will chamber and it will fire in most instances it will not extract if a round chambers behind it it will force the spent case into the barrel and if fired will cause a KB (KABOOM) Hope no one was hurt.

When I was younger and stupid, I used to buy reload from an unknown source at a gun shop. I did have a couple of squibs but I was lucky as hell. I roll my own ammo now and refuse to share it to anybody because I cannot guarantee 100% I did not make a mistake. I have no problems paying the consequences of my mistakes but I do not want anybody else to do the same. My ammo, my gun, my medical insurance.

No Warrants in Boston Bomber search.

This pic portraying a SWAT team searching a house without a warrant has been making the rounds…

At-home-with-SWAT-People (no enough) are pissed at the concept of any kind of LEO just forcing themselves into a house under the excuse of a safety search and wonder how the hell have we come so low.

Answer: Same crap happen during Katrina using the excuse that they “looking for survivors” and even fewer people complained.  Now the Powers That Be think and can get away with it.
