In Milwaukee, homicides were up 180% by May 17 over the same period the previous year. Through April, shootings in St. Louis were up 39%, robberies 43%, and homicides 25%. “Crime is the worst I’ve ever seen it,” said St. Louis Alderman Joe Vacarro at a May 7 City Hall hearing.Murders in Atlanta were up 32% as of mid-May. Shootings in Chicago had increased 24% and homicides 17%. Shootings and other violent felonies in Los Angeles had spiked by 25%; in New York, murder was up nearly 13%, and gun violence 7%.Those citywide statistics from law-enforcement officials mask even more startling neighborhood-level increases. Shooting incidents are up 500% in an East Harlem precinct compared with last year; in a South Central Los Angeles police division, shooting victims are up 100%….

….This incessant drumbeat against the police has resulted in what St. Louis police chief Sam Dotson last November called the “Ferguson effect.” Cops are disengaging from discretionary enforcement activity and the “criminal element is feeling empowered,” Mr. Dotson reported. Arrests in St. Louis city and county by that point had dropped a third since the shooting of Michael Brown in August. Not surprisingly, homicides in the city surged 47% by early November and robberies in the county were up 82%.

When you have people with “the best intentions” but lacking in Real Life Knowledge in positions of power aided by idiots with a political agenda (or vice versa), the consequences tend to be bloody.

And I am not going to be as naive as to make this a Left-Only problem. We have our share of idiots who have helped this collapse by painting Bad Cops and bad police procedures as a standard policy and behavior because it has been the fashionable thing to do among the Chest Beaters.

Let’s be Rham Emannuel crass, shall we? We are presented with a unique opportunity: By openly supporting Law Enforcement during these times, we can only but gain points for the future of our cause. Cops are not going away anytime soon nor the Powers That Be want them gone as they are not stupid and understand that they will become victims themselves if they make them disappear or castrate their effectiveness.

That bad cops need to go and bad procedures need to be fixed? Yes.  should paint every cop as a killer and every procedure as corrupt? That is stupid and basically doing what the Left is doing and people are now paying with their lives. You do not torch a Cadillac just because the cup holder leaks and the radio won’t come on. Let’s fix the crap that needs to be fixed only.

So they are up to 38 homicides at time of this posting and the weekend is coming. Truth be told, I can’t blame the cops as they were sold down the gutter by the politicians and as much as vocation for the job they can have, the atmosphere has become so poisonous nobody wants to risk either life or prison time because some jackasses in City Hall decided to make brownie points on their back.

Of course, the biggest losers are the good people who will get reamed several new ones (I don’t mind the a**holes that were protesting & looting because it was the cool thing to do, they can get reamed once every hour, 24/7) because protection is gone for good now: No cops and no way to defend themselves.

If this continues, I think the governor will be forced to call for an State of Emergency and send the National Guard back. I don’t know if it can be done or if it could last long, but is gonna be either that or It is gonna be like Death Wish 3 without Charles Bronson and Wildey.

Interestingly enough, both CSGV and Brady are rather silent on Baltimore according to their Facebook pages. Moms Demand posted a blurb from The Guardian and again, for group that is supposed to be saavy on PR and manipulations, the article did not help.

To summarize: He was at a party, went to his vehicle, extracted a gun and kept it concealed (without a permit), he was approached by several people who attacked him, he defended himself and killed two.

Dorsey gets charged with several counts including murder and felon in possession of a firearm. He is found guilty, the case is appealed again because of bad Jury instructions, upper courts dismisses the murder charges but still has to serve 15 years for the Felon Carrying a Gun charge.

In the article at the bottom, you find this:

The year before the shootings, he was charged with two forgery-related counts: He and a friend tried to pass off a fake $20 bill to buy cigarettes and entry to a community pool

Now, if he was only charged and there was no trial or no plea was entered, why was he charged as Felon carrying a firearm? I looked online, but could not find info about that particular case. Looking at Dorsey’s page in the Department of Corrections database, the only charges in his file are the ones relating to the shooting and charged and found guilty of plain vanilla carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and given 5 years.  Nothing shows a felony conviction for forgery.

Either we are missing a bunch of information or somebody overstepped in his/her prosecutorial powers…again.

In California, however, we found a tool and legislators with the courage to pass legislation that has the potential to have a huge impact on preventing these and other similar tragedies. Assembly Bill 1014 will take effect in California on January 1, 2016, allowing for family members or law enforcement officers to petition for a Gun Violence Restraining Order against individuals who pose a danger to themselves or others. It is the first law of its kind anywhere in the country
