Politics is Filth.

Still on the School Walkout.

The people who established a system to hide actions of violent students and led to Nick Cruz killing 17 fellow students are preening like peacocks today and offering all kinds of magnificent gestures:

Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho could not be pried away form the event because there were media cameras.

And “making sure nothing happens” duty, Broward Sheriff Office.

Not even The Onion could come up with stuff like this.

Avoiding missing springs and other Lower assembly delights

Spring and detents will try to fly and hide from you if precautions are not taken. These words were told to me by several AR fans and I heeded their advice.

For another “Honey-Do” project, I had bought a roll of black 2 mm foam. I had still some leftover pieces including one that is 36″ by 15″ which was used as bench mat. It is not neoprene and it is not thick, but I found it to work almost the same as the “good stuff” and it was a leftover piece from an original expense of $8.99. The original size of the roll would have given me 4 mats at 36″ by 15.”

The second thing: I hate white lithium grease. It has the consistency of that baby poo that it cannot be washed and like a bad movie virus, it only spreads and spreads. A simple wipe of a cloth will not clear it, you need to get brutal. And if you get it in your clothes?  You don’t wanna know. But I have to admit that is a great lubricant and protector for any mechanical thing in nasty-than-usual locations.  The other great thing they do? Dab just a smidgen on springs and detents and they do not bounce. I did not lose a single spring or detent even though this was my first build. Did some come out of their respective holes? Yes, they landed on the foam mat and the grease helped keep them there.

One last thing: Last time I was at Northern Tool & Equipment, they had these cute magnetic trays, smaller than a cigarette pack at the check out counter.  grabbed one for the heck of it and it turned out to be a damned blessing keeping all the little parts secured in one place.

I hope you find my little insights useful.

PS: After completion, I took the fully assembled lower to a boat trip in the lake where it suffered an unfortunate accident and disappeared under the water.

In lieu of flowers, you can send a donation to the GFZ Foundation which was the lower’s favorite charity.

School Walkouts happening now.

Tens of thousand of kids are coming out of the classes to “protest” against Gun Violence and demanding the ban on “Assault Weapons” and the AR-15.

These are kids that will be tired after a long day in school, doing Social Justice work. So when they get home, they will chill out in front of their X-Boxes and play Rainbow Six: The Mutant Peacock Wars or Call Of Duty 24 and start killing the enemies with AR 15s and other “Assault Weapons.”

And the irony will remain undetected.

Another candidate talking about something she doesn’t understand

Brianna Wu is a crazy person.  I have covered her (arguably him) before and her paranoid fantasy that privatization of space means that CEOs will race to the moon to start the kinetic bombardment of Earth for profit.  Apparently Wu cannot separate reality from the fantasy world of her terrible video games.

(On a side note, that her husband has won Hugo Awards for fan art means to me that the Hugo Award has become a meaningless sham.  Rest in peace, Robert A. Heinlein.)

Brianna Wu is running for Congress for the 8th District of Massachusetts, which included the wealthy, predominantly white, suburbs of Boston.

Wu decided to jump in on the gun issue with this tweet.

I want to know how many NRA members and gun owners she knows in the hyper Liberal enclave of Boston she lives in.

Given her reputation as a scam artist in the gaming community, I’d venture a guess that this is a lie.

She is just another liberal promoting the Große Lüge that the NRA doesn’t represent the interests of it’s members anymore.

So what that the NRA has 5 Million (and growing rapidly) members, the members don’t agree with the leadership and so the NRA members will support our gun control measures even if the leadership doesn’t.

That is a remarkably stupid and factually inaccurate argument.  People have been joining the NRA in droves precisely because after Parkland, they see that the NRA has been right all along that the Democrats want to take your guns.

What is really infuriating is the idea of mandatory training.  That is nothing but a literacy test for gun rights, because Miguel is right that we are the new Negores.  Exercising a civil right should not require a hurdle to jump.

Who is going to train us?  The same LEOs that failed in Parkland?

These people hate the NRA, so I doubt they would approve any NRA training.

What I can assure you is this, as soon as any Liberal politician passes a mandatory training requirement for gun ownership, what will happen is this:

The state will approve one training facility, it will be open one day a week, it will have one staff member, and the website to sign up for training will be worse than the one for Obamacare.

Training is, of course, a good idea.  I’m just not going to allow my ability to exercise my Constitutional protected civil rights to be gatekept by an impossibly onerous training process developed by people who both know nothing about guns and hate them.

Brianna Wu has done nothing more than advocate for Jim Crow laws to be used against gun owners.  Different group of people, same tactics.

Wasted Outrage.

This article hit the Twitter feeds and there was the obvious outrage about the guy.

If anything, the lack of knowledge of No Duty to Protect explains why there is a huge segment of the population that firmly believes police are legally come to their rescue no matter what or face the consequences. We know better and that is why we accepted the responsibility to be our own First responders.

That cops do indeed go towards the sound of gunfire shows that many do have a moral standard and respect the oath they took so I am careful about painting with a 5 feet foot roller all LEOs as cowards because they are not.

Broward Sheriff Office will probably come unscathed from this because of No Duty to Protect.  At most (and doubtful) we will see Sheriff Scott Israel taking retirement (He’s been a cop since 1979 with different agencies), the captain that gave the perimeter order may get demoted for all of six months (being a woman in a deep blue county will give her rank back fast) and nothing to the other deputies who were obeying orders and stayed outside. Yes, the Nuremberg defense in action.

If you are reading about No Duty to Protect for the first time, you should start re-addressing your response to violence the soonest. Basically, do call the cops, but plan what are you gonna do if they do not show up to save your ass.

That SHTF scenario that you said it could never happen? It did and it is known as the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.
