Because the truth would not have resulted in a win.

AMSTERDAM (AP) — A spine-tingling photo of a young man on fire during clashes in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas during the protest against President Nicolas Maduro has won the World Press Photo of the Year.
The photo by Agence France-Presse journalist Ronaldo Schemidt won both the overall honors and the category for Spot News Single on Thursday in Amsterdam. Jury chair Magdalena Herrera called it “a classical photo” that gave her “an instantaneous emotion.”
The photo shows a man who was in flames after a gas tank on his motorcycle exploded. He escaped with second-degree burns. Schemidt is a photographer for AFP based in Mexico.

Photo of Venezuela unrest wins World Press Photo contest.

This who ride motorcycles are probably scratching their heads trying to figure out how come the young man wearing a helmet and a gas mask managed to catch fire on his back if the gas tank exploded in front of him.

The truth is that the fire comes from a Molotov Cocktail that he was trying to throw and came apart on him as he was about to launch it. I remember seeing it as it was being streamed live when it happened.

Never forget, journalists are not known for their honesty.

More Than 20 Russian-Linked Contributors gave the NRA a grand total of $2,500. (nope, no missing zeroes)

The National Rifle Association has accepted contributions from about 23 Russians, or Americans living in Russia, since 2015, the gun rights group acknowledged to Congress.
The NRA said in a letter to Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., unveiled on Wednesday, that the sum it received from those people was just over $2,500 and most of that was “routine payments” for membership dues or magazine subscriptions.
About $525 of that figure was from “two individuals who made contributions to the NRA.”
Wyden has been querying the NRA about its Russia connections following press reports that suggest the FBI is investigating whether Russians might have tried to use the NRA or other political organizations as part of their attack on the 2016 election.

NRA, In New Document, Acknowledges More Than 20 Russian-Linked Contributors

Dear God! the NRA colluded with the Russians to hack the elections at the tune of twenty-five hundred bucks!

And leave it to NPR to be accurate but not tell the truth and leave the accusation against the NRA still floating.

And no, it is not strange for foreigners to be NRA members, you are looking at one. I have been an NRA member on and off since 1986 I think, long before I even moved to the US after becoming a resident and then a citizen.

Marion Hammer receives credible death threats. -They want you dead.-

Marion Hammer, the NRA’s top lobbyist in Florida, didn’t attend Tuesday’s public hearing on a Leon County gun ordinance because of death threats.
Hammer, usually a staple at legislative hearings on gun bills, acknowledged she wouldn’t attend the hearing in an email exchange over the weekend with County Commissioner Bryan Desloge.
“The death threats come with the job,” she said in a Sunday email. “I’ve dealt with it for many, many years. But it is so ugly this time NRA is insisting that I listen to my security advisers. It always amazes me how these people who claim to want to stop violence are so quick to threaten violence. I have never been afraid of them but it really makes me angry when they threaten my family.

Death threats kept Hammer from gun law hearing

I added ‘credible’ to the title because she has been getting death threats for the past 30 years or more. Most of them have been from assholes who are just full of crap and venting. But the last batch has been deemed believable enough to keep her from doing her job and that means the Opposition has whipped at least one individual into a frenzy and the damn the consequences.
What still surprises me is that people on our side are reluctant to understand that we could end up being hurt or killed by our opponents. I should not have to remind everybody that Antifa has had no issues doing harm to people and property while being pretty much untouched by the Justice System until the Inauguration Day arrests and prosecutions. I am also amazed that our side has forgotten James Hodgkinson shooting the softball match between Republican congressmen which resulted in the grave injuries to House Majority Whip Steve Scalise? (see what happens when you buy into the “Let’s not mention the shooter ever again”?)
I am not saying that the Parkland Shooting was a targeted conspiracy, but just the result of pre-planned policies all over the school system that eventually would lead to a mayor incident. They did not know where was going to happen or when it was going to happen, but that it would be happening. They prepared for it and just bid their time and sprung the shit storm we are living right now. You do not court the Media for 30 years, tell them how to write about guns and how to characterize gun owners in their presentations (News, movies, TV shows) without affecting certain amount of the population who are now “berserking” themselves into committing acts of violence upon us and which will be blamed on us too.
I am afraid that the time for politeness alone may be over. I hope that does not come to it, but I am afraid that events will lead to a violent confrontation created by people who really have no idea what violence is and have the silly notion they can control it because, somehow, our side will play by the rules they tell us to follow while they play without any.
It will be then that we should be ha[[y to introduce them to one of Colonel Cooper’s most illuminating quotes regarding violence:

“One bleeding-heart type asked me in a recent interview if I did not agree that ‘violence begets violence.’ I told him that it is my earnest endeavor to see that it does. I would like very much to ensure — and in some cases I have — that any man who offers violence to his fellow citizen begets a whole lot more in return than he can enjoy.”

Michael Bane has been saying it quite forcefully: “They want you dead.” Do not think he is exaggerating, or being bombastic for the sake of calling attention to himself. The threat is very real, I have seen in Venezuela the violence thrusted upon those who dissented and the bodies of the innocent and disarmed piled up.

And they will not stop until they either win or they get to feel in their own flesh what happens when Freedom is defended. Make it really expensive for the Opposition.

Goons supporting the Chavez Government opened fire against peaceful demonstrators in Caracas.

A mass shooting incident where a Chavez supporter shot at an Anti-Chavez rally killing there people and wounded 28.

April 11, 2002. Government supporters shoot from a bridge against people marching against the policies of Hugo Chavez. 19 dead, over 100 wounded.
This is what Gun Control looks like. This is what Gun Control activists and other Liberals want to happen in this country.
I feel we are about to refresh the Tree of Liberty.

So what is gonna happen in London when they figure out how to make blades?

And it is not that hard or you need a forge.  My dad would make blades out of worn out or broken hacksaw blades to use around his printing shop and I got cut more than once with the suckers. Here is an example of somebody’s damn good-looking blade via a hacksaw.

The other thing that can get sharpened? Credit/Debit/Gift cards. I had never given it a thought till I saw a Burt Reynolds movie where he was a private detective in Las Vegas but only carried blades and kept his credit cards razor-sharp as some sort of surprise weapon.

This is an ad for a sharpener, but it shows a gift card sharpened enough that I believe will inflict sever damage on a human. Think neck.

And if you really want to see creativity, hit YouTube for videos on how to make prison shivs and the like. Let me put it this way: I will never see a Sharpie with innocence ever again.

My BBQ gun

I came home for lunch to find the mail man had delivered some goodies early, specifically my slide back from Novak Sights.

It is done, my BBQ gun.

The slide is from a Remington Limited Edition 200th Anniversary 1911 R1.

The frame is a Remington R1 high polish stainless.

The sights are Novak plain black rear and tritium dot front.

Wilson Combat Bulletproof semi-extended slide stop and thumb safety.

Wilson Combat drop in beaver tail.

Ed Brown checkered mag well.

The grips are checkered G-10 into which I epoxied Remington “R” medallions.

Except for the sights, every inch of fitment, tuning, and love was done by me.

The trigger breaks clean, the frame rails have been stoned and polished, the feed ramp honed and polished, all to a mirror shine.

Now all I need is a BBQ to go to so that I can carry it.

NRA-ILA: Just to make more Antis angrier.

First I became NRA Life member and now I am a NRA-ILA Sustaining Member.

And a fresh box of 30-06.

If we had a billionaire on our side, by now there would be Open Carry for tourists  in the White House and IDPA matches at the Secret Service range in DC.  But since nobody wants to step up to the plate, it falls on us to help., so join the NRA-ILA here.

More on knives and the UK

Operation Sceptre is the name of a British police initiate to tackle knife crime.  This is how it is described from the official website of the Metropolitan Police.

We launched Operation Sceptre in July 2015 with the aim of reducing knife crime and the number families affected by knife crime across the whole of London. The launch was designed to coincide with new legislation that means that those convicted of carrying a knife for the second time will face a mandatory custodial sentence. Operation Sceptre seeks to target not only those who carry and use knives, but also the supply, access and importation of weapons.

There is a Twitter hashtag for this, #OpSceptre.  Various police units post their finds and seizures on Twitter as a warning to people.  The problem is that it makes the UK look like a laughing stock.

Was that really a stashed weapon or did somebody lose that?

The kitchen knife may be dubious but I’m pretty sure the pruning shears were dropped by whoever has the job of maintaining that planter.

For fuck’s sake, a Leatherman?  Really?

This is where this whole thing starts to die.

I agree with the Left, the purpose of guns is to kill.  However, I don’t have an inherent problem with that.  I have a problem with who is killing and why.  I believe that killing in self defense is legitimate and so I believe that people should be allowed to have the tools for effective self defense.  Attack me and I will try and kill you right back.

In this way, knives are not like guns.  There are many uses for a knife beyond stabbing people.  As someone who carries a Swiss Army Knife… everywhere… I wouldn’t want to use it as a weapon.  There are just so many better options for improvised weapons than my Deluxe Tinker.

So when the Mayor of London said “there is never a reason to carry a knife,” any rational person would say “bullshit.”

This is the same attitude had by NY prosecutor Cy Vance and Governor Andrew Cuomo in for punishing working class people in New York for carrying knives used for work, to the point where they go after retailers like Home Depot.

Or in the case of the UK, housewares retailers.

It is the assumption that the ONLY reason to have a knife is to use it as a weapon, carrying a knife ALWAYS has nefarious intent, and only bad people carry knifes of any kind.

I get that carrying an 8 inch novelty “Rambo” knife is probably criminal, but when that is treated the same as multi-tool, society has reached the level of “dystopian police state.”

The more the UK police focus on “carrying knives” and not why people are stabbing each other, the more laughably ridiculous this becomes.

Forget the wayward youths stabbing each other over drugs or hooliganism, we need to be sure to disarm every mechanic and handyman in Kingdom.

Part of this war on knives in the UK is charities and other groups who have placed “knife bins” in locations to get people to give up their knives.

Words 4 Weapons is one of these charities.

Only Cowards Carry is another.  This second one intrigues me.

Pictures of their bins have been posted here before.

I am curious, does this work?

I’m not a psychologist but it seems like this is supposed to shame people who carry knives as weapons into giving up their knives.  That seems to be as bad as the “real men use fists” crap we’ve seen from the anti gun crowd.

Maybe centuries of being Subjects not Citizens makes Britons act differently, but if someone said to me “you are a coward because you have a SAK on you, give it up” it’s only going to piss me off, not make be throw my knife away.

Really, to me this is nothing but a convenient evidence disposal box.

If freedom is to prevail in the US or even make an attempt at comeback in the UK, the first thing that needs to reassert itself is the presumption of innocence.

Simply carrying a knife, or a gun, or possession of a scary black rifle and extra big metal box with a spring is not evidence of malicious intent.

Anybody that can’t differentiate between a guy with a tool and a guy with criminal intent doesn’t belong anywhere near authority.
