How gun control went from a vote loser to a vote winner these midterms

If you are a Floridian Gun Owner, you know this is not just because of this election year and certainly not because of Parkland. Gun Control has been working below the radar for several years now and probably pouring cash to the legislators. We simply never checked the asshats were being faithful and got taken to the woodshed for it.

I will even go as far as say that if we were to deeply investigate the finances of our legislators, we may find enough contributions to make their lives outside the political world happy, basically that if they were not to be reelected by term limits or election results, they did not need to care as they would be well provided.

We assumed being elected was a priority for our politicians and the Opposition changed that paradigm.  They probably made it straight about the money and a cozy future job or investment fund. We won’t know till it is too late.

And I am afraid we will continue to lose because simply don’t have the money and we won’t bribe the legislators. We no longer  have clout in politics to influence election because Gun Control more than likely found out a way to kill votes with cash.

Votes only work on election day, that is once every two years. Cash works 365 days, 24 hours a day.

We should start discussing other options ASAP.

PS: Don’t try to assign blame to this individual or this other group, there is plenty to go around and you would be admitting you did not do shit and thought somebody else would do it for you.

In fact, I am closing the comments on this one since I know some will get their undies all twisted up and not concentrate on how we all fucked up.

I read Miguel’s post about Shelby Shoup, who is a Jewish Socialist and supporter of Palestine, despite the fact that Socialists and Muslims have historically been the two biggest threats and murderers of Jews.

On its face, a girl like this existing doesn’t make any sense.  What it really amazing is that there are so many groups like this.

Jewish Voice for Peace is a radically Left Wing anti-Zionist organization in America.  Its mission statement is:

Jewish Voice for Peace opposes anti-Jewish, anti-Muslim, and anti-Arab bigotry and oppression. JVP seeks an end to the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem; security and self-determination for Israelis and Palestinians; a just solution for Palestinian refugees based on principles established in international law; an end to violence against civilians; and peace and justice for all peoples of the Middle East.

In practicality, they call for the end of all Israeli security and the surrender of Israel to the forces of terrorism, because like all Leftist groups, they don’t every ask the Muslims to accept the Jews or condemn terrorism.

Queers Against Israeli Apartheid used to be Queers Undermining Israeli Terrorism which used to be Queers for Palestine.  There are several LGBT rights organizations that are anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian, even though in Palestine, the punishment for homosexuality is death by stoning.

Going overseas to Europe, a group of passengers on a UK flight to Turkey staged a “mutiny” to stop the deportation of a Somali man from the UK.  Turns out that the man had just completed a nine year prison sentence for his role in a gang rape of a teenage girl.

This is not the first story like this. Back in July, a Swedish woman was hailed as a “hero” for stopping a flight that was deporting an Afghani man.  Turns out, that man had just gotten out of prison for assault and had a history of abusing his wife and children.

Back in 2016 there was a story Norwegian rape survivor ‘feels guilty’ the man who assaulted him was deported.  

Karsten Nordal Hauken, who describes himself as feminist and anti-racist, was sexually attacked five years ago.

He said that although the incident caused a spiral of depression and substance abuse, he felt bad about the fact the man had been deported to Somalia when he had already served his prison sentence.

There are countless cases I can find in the Western World of Leftists siding with, defending, or outright supporting the people who actively seek to destroy them.

This is cultural suicide.  There is no other way to put it.

Suicide is a comorbidity of mental illness, and I am convinced that this degree of Leftism is pathological.

I can’t imagine looking at two groups, one shouting “death to the Jews” and the other saying “we’re here to defend the Jews” and a rational Jew choosing to supporter the former over the latter.

Battered Woman Syndrome, which used to be called Battered Wife Syndrome is described this way:

Serious, long-term domestic abuse can result in a mental disorder called battered woman syndrome. Battered woman syndrome, which is also sometimes called battered wife syndrome, is considered a subcategory of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

With battered woman syndrome, a woman may develop a learned helplessness that causes her to believe she deserves the abuse and that she can’t get away from it. In many cases, it’s why women don’t report their abuse to police or avoid telling friends and family what’s really going on.

A substantial part of Battered Woman Syndrome is guilt.  The woman comes to believe that she deserved the abuse.  She feels guilty if her abuser is punished.  A hallmark of the syndrome is the battered woman returning to her abuser, which is what makes this so pernicious.

There is a very high incident rate of suicide in people who suffer intimate partner violence.

I cannot help but believe that these useful idiots of Western Left must suffer from some sort of similar disorder.  They have been made to feel so guilty about the the success and affluence of the Western World, compared to the failure shit-hole nations that lack Western values, that they reflexively side with the shit-holes over the West.  I am including Soviet Communism and Chinese Maoism in the ranks of shit-hole.

The only reason I can think to do this to a people is its easier to get them to march into concentration camps or gas chambers if they want to go and think they deserve it.

If it was just this one girl, it would be easy to write off as “she’s nuts.”  But it’s not just this one girl.  It’s millions of people who are actively working for the cause of their own destruction.  There has to be some imposed pathology afoot.

I don’t think 90% of the modern drummers would even dream to get out of the house with a  set as simple as the ones they were playing in the video.

I am in awe of Krupa. In that video, he is paying years of addiction and simply not taking care of himself, but he could still beat those heads with style and perfection. He would die just seven years after this show.

And Buddy Rich? Nothing there to say, you just saw it. Plus he notched drum duels with two masters of the drums: Gene Krupa and Animal from The Muppets. Few people can say that.

It turns out that her name is Shelby Shoup and she is listed as an intern for the Andrew Gillum for Florida Governor Campaign. What I was not prepared for was that she was actually arrested and booked for battery by the Leon County Sheriff’s department.

As usual a fundraiser is underway for Ms. Swinging Starbucks and it was hilarious why you should give your money for her cause:

I really do not mind setting themselves up for killing, I just resent the idea that they are demanding me be their companions in such suicidal endeavor.

I rather give indigestion to the assholes she supports.

Having an exchange in Facebook about Jews being attacked in the Big Apple, I posted that it was time for the NYC Jews to head south where they could be not only safe but able to defend themselves. One of the participants did not like the idea saying instead that the Jewish population of New York excises political power and they should stay instead.  When I replied that the only political value the average Jew has in NYC is as a corpse so Democrats can be seen as sensitive, shit went downhill.

I will spare you of the exchange (it was bad on both sides and my opponent took umbrage when I called him “Baby Arafat”  for wanting more Jews to be killed unnecessarily) but I closed my side of the issue with a historical remark to support my view about moving out of NYC

That did not help end the convo in a good manner. Fuck ’em if they can’t take a joke.

My hate affair with Apple began with their Apple IIe series back in the late 70s when I saw my first one in the only Caracas’ store, went inside to ask for info and I was ignored with disdain by the owner. I’d probably looked like I could not afford it (and back then, very few people could specially a 17-year-old high schooler) but I went on not to be a fan of the company. Back then, the Apple stickers were a great deal and I was seen as crazy when a I would reject them.

When IBM enters the Personal Computer market, Apple responds with the McIntosh. I was already in College and I was just looking at computers without having a true interest in one since I was using the college’s mainframe to do stuff for free (mostly writing papers in its word processing software and play Star Trek.) What struck me as interesting was that Apple’s box could not be upgraded or repaired by anybody other than Apple because of their proprietary stuff,  while IBM’s PC not only could be repaired by the electronic equivalent of a shade-tree mechanic, but they went the way of the VHS and started to sell the licenses to anybody in the planet. The PC took over 95% of the personal computer market and has not relinquished ever since.

I was reading J. Kb.’s post where he mentions “Apple Warranty” and I was reminded a series of videos I bumped by accident in YouTube about an non-aligned Apple repair guy.My animus boycott for Apple was renewed for another 40 years after seeing them.

This is the first one I saw. he has several more. One of them mentions that he charged some basic repair for some simple thing  about $75 which contrasts with the boatload pf cash that Apple demands.

Even if you are not electronics-savy, you will enjoy the workmanship and the explanations. Get you coffee and have at it.

And fuck Apple.

I saw this video in my YouTube recommended videos and it is fascinating.

It wasn’t so much the Tesla that I found interesting but what it revealed about Tesla and Tesla’s engineers that I found fascinating.

I am a meat space engineer.

My undergrad degree is in Chemical Engineering from way back in 2006.  My graduate degrees are in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering.

I don’t know jack about programming.  My Excel-Fu is strong but that’s about it.  I do not know how to run AutoCAD, Solid Works, or any other modeling software.

My work is in real world physical testing, often destructive testing.  I do a lot of manufactureability assessments.  What materials to use, how to heat treat them, what order of operations to put them together with, in order to get the most cost efficient process.

Tesla is a Silicon Valley company, based in Palo Alto, California.  What is strange is that they are a Silicon Valley company that does meat space engineering.

Using the Halback effect  to develop a very efficient electric motor is brilliant.  Their battery is a thing of beauty.  It is pretty much a 1,200 lbs cell phone battery.

You can tell that the electrical engineering that went into the Tesla is borrowed straight from the laptop and tablet manufacturers up and down the road from them in Silicon Valley.

Their monocoque is an awful pile of overly complex, barely assemblable, excessively expensive garbage.

Absolutley no design for manufacturablty went into the body of the car.

Sandy Munroe, the engineer who did the analysis of the Tesla in the video wondered why this was not caught.

Here is why I think it is.  I have experienced friction in my life with the Silicon Valley mindset.  It is “we are cutting edge and everything that isn’t cutting edge is a dinosaur.”

Lithium ion batteries, digital electric motors, those are cutting edge.  Car  monocoque, chassis, and suspension design is old meat space technology.  The drive in that is production efficiency.  Every once in a while new technology comes along, adaptive damping or something, but a lot of that is actually borrowed from aerospace or racing, where light weight performance is critical.  Then the progress of technology and economy of scale eventually make that cost effective for the consumer car.

I have the feeling that Tesla, the young startup, has very few (if any) experienced car designers who built a career cutting weight and cost out of car building for Toyota or Ford, where the profit margins are razor thin.

If they do, I can all but guarantee that those few engineers are treated like ignorant dinosaurs by the hip Cal Tech designers working on the solid state computer system under the hood.

The frame stinks of the “let’s launch the platform and keep issuing patches and updates” attitude of software design.

Every time they needed to make a change, they patched it here, altered it there, and never had any consistency in assembly.

I have more evidence to back up my theory.  This video on this guy who fixes his own Tesla.

This is the Apple warranty.  Once your iPhone is off warranty, you buy a new one.  Don’t crack it open, you will not get replacement parts, you can’t update anything.

That works for a $900 phone.  Not for an $80,000 car.

And look at the shoddy, shitty assembly.  That’s a lot of miles but not a lot of time, so headlights, taillights, and trim shouldn’t be leaking like that.

This car was built to be the iPhone of cars.  It’s great and loved by the people who own is just long enough for the next model to come out two years later and upgrade it.  If you are not that fanboi customer, fuck you.

The Tesla really is a physical manifestation of the differences in thinking between Silicon Valley engineering and classical real world, meat space, engineering.
