Florida: About killing Iguanas

I have been bombarded by readers and friends about the decision by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to go ahead and tell home and property owners to kill iguanas that are becoming a nuisance.

First thing out of the gate: No, I have no idea what caliber for iguana, nor I would recommend you use firearms if you live in an urban zone.

And that leads us to a couple of things I want to mention: people re just reading “you can kill iguanas!” and stop after that. Yes you can, but you have to do it according to the law and that is to do it humanely and in your property. So if you live in a condo and see an iguana in the common area, calling a couple of friends over and dispose of the mini dinosaur with baseball bats while doing a Facebook Live may not fly with FWC and you earned yourself a Misdemeanor of the First Degree (a year in jail) and $5,000 fine.  So use common sense and leave the critters alone if the parameters are not met. Once again a reminder that FWC officer have no sense of humor.

And as for the second question: No, I am not killing my backyard critters. I like the suckers.

Still living rent-free in his brain pan.

I had not thought about our dear friend Rick in a long time.  Blog Buddy The Universal Spectator let me know that according to him, in the recesses of his mind  I am wearing the traditional KKK garb and riding a horse with a tiki torch in hand  because he found my post about The Lady Pimp of Miami Lakes very racist.

I will guess the meme was too much for him and gave him agita.

I mean the dumb ass Rick does not see anything bad with an elected official demanding that the First Amendment gets thrown out the window so her feelings don’t get hurt, but I am a bad racist person because I make a comparison of her attire with that of a pimp’s? Rick, baby, I did not dress he like that, she did on her own.

So, here it is again.

And now back to our regular schedule.

The Kentucky Eyglasses BS.

I just read J. Kb.’s  post on the Kentucky eye glass Mafia and it almost divinely coincidental that last night I was getting information where to send the old glasses we have accumulated around the house. After a search I found out that the local Lion’s Clubs will take old prescription eyewear donation to give to those in need.  But how about Kentucky? What does the Lion’s Club do to help poor people in need of prescription glasses? They only get to help them figure out how fill paperwork to buy them.

The Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation is governed by the Lions Clubs of Kentucky.  Many of these clubs offer assistance with purchasing glasses for those in need in their communities.  The Lions eyeglass program is not directly affiliated with the Foundation and the Foundation has no input into the various programs.  Several clubs in the Louisville area do offer assistance to those in need and have an application that must be completed for an individual to be considered.

So while I am gonna mail all the family’s old eyewear to mail to the Lions Club over at Dania Beach, imagine the thousands of pair of old glasses going to waste in Kentucky because of a little Mafia between the Optometrists and the Government.

The idea is for the people to see, you dense mother f******!.

More reasons why I often hate the goverment – Kentucky eyeglasses edition

I am a small government conservative, I often call my self a classical liberal, as in the way Thomas Jefferson was a liberal.

I believe that societies need governments.  There needs to be enforced law and order.  Without it, societies end up being ruled by violent brutes and vengeful mobs.

That doesn’t mean I have to like or trust the government.

Kentucky has given me another glaring example of why I shouldn’t.

Kentucky tells church giving away used glasses to homeless it is breaking law

This is going to be good…

For 16 years, a Kentucky church member has been giving away prescription glasses to the poor. His program, Kendall Optometry Ministry, has become so successful, it has helped thousands of people across 79 countries.

So this guy gets used glasses donated.  He and some volunteers clean them up and then match them to homeless people who need glasses.  My wife wears glasses so I know just how shit-ass expensive they are.  Donating used glasses in good condition sounds like a wonderful idea.  Everybody wins.  The homeless get glasses and the people donating get a tax write-off.  Hooray for a system of charity doing some good.

But the Kentucky Board of Optometric Examiners and the Kentucky Board of Ophthalmic Dispensers claim the practice is illegal because the glasses “are not new, first quality and made to meet the individual’s personal prescriptions.”

I’m from the government and I’m here to help…

“Optometry Board basically told us we must discontinue this used glasses clinic, even though the used glasses look like new, you can’t tell the difference. They don’t like that the prescription [is not exact]…but the thing is in all cases it vastly improves the vision,” Kendall told Fox News. “I just don’t think they’re concerned about the homeless people as I am.”

Economic fucking protectionism.  That’s what this bullshit is.  It’s economic protectionism gone awry.

The Kentucky Board of Optometric Examiners and the Kentucky Board of Ophthalmic Dispensers seems money slipping through their fingers and have sicced the dogs of the government on this church group.

And It’s not like this is cutting into their profits all that much.  I can’t imagine the homeless are buying glasses and I am not aware of any homeless shelters that do optometry work.

So the fuck what that the “are not new, first quality and made to meet the individual’s personal prescriptions?”  A pair of donated glasses that are a 90% match are better than the 100% match that the homeless don’t have because they don’t have $300 to spend on glasses.

The Board of Optometric Examiners for the state told Fox News members met with Kendall on Saturday to “share with him the Board’s statutory duties regarding optometric practice and dispensation.”

An official said the board “applauds Mr. Kendall’s desire to aid those in need” but said the charity’s practices could actually hurt someone with optical needs who should be seen by a licensed optometrist.

So where is the Optometrists board holding its monthly charity examination and glasses giveaway?

Fucking nowhere is the answer.

But Kendall insists if he changes his work model, he will not be able to help the hundreds of people he sees who have trouble with their vision. He said he tried working with a licensed optometrist about a decade ago. But the optometrist was forced to leave, he said, because the state threatened to take away the eye doctor’s medical license.

Of course they did.  Why?

Because you should never underestimate the power of a do-gooding bureaucrat to royally fuck something up for everyone else.

Holland believes most of the time they are “able to vastly improve their vision,” but all that could soon come to an end unless something changes.

No more good is going to be done for the homeless with bad eyesight in Kentucky because the fucking government got involved.

This reminds me of a similar story from New York City a few years ago, when the second worse mayor to run that place was in charge.

Bloomberg Strikes Again: NYC Bans Food Donations To The Homeless

Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s food police have struck again!

Outlawed are food donations to homeless shelters because the city can’t assess their salt, fat and fiber content, reports CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer.

Glenn Richter arrived at a West Side synagogue on Monday to collect surplus bagels — fresh nutritious bagels — to donate to the poor. However, under a new edict from Bloomberg’s food police he can no longer donate the food to city homeless shelters.

Richter has been collecting food from places like the Ohav Zedek synagogue and bringing it to homeless shelters for more than 20 years, but recently his donation, including a “cholent” or carrot stew, was turned away because the Bloomberg administration wants to monitor the salt, fat and fiber eaten by the homeless.

It wasn’t just this synagogue.  Caterers and restaurants had been giving away surplus food to homeless shelters.  Not just did that stop good food from being thrown away, but the tax deductions helped these small businesses recover loss to their bottom line from waste.  It was good all around.  The homeless got good food, the shelters could stretch their budgets using donations, and the business owners got a tax break.

That was just too much good and Mayor Bloomberg had to shut that shit down, because god forbid some guy whose last meal came out of a trashcan got a plate of donated food that contained more than the USDA recommended daily dose of salt.

I have never understood the impetus of some people to see two people working together in a positive way or to see one person doing something good for another and for that person to jump into between and say “stop, you’re doing this all wrong” and break up a good thing from happening.

I guess not having that impetus is why I have no desire to be a bureaucrat.

It’s said those who can’t do teach.  I don’t believe that’s true.  Those who can’t do become bureaucrats and stop others from doing too.

What is the Democrat Demographic

Yesterday I wrote about how Nike is the next big company to go woke, go broke.

They decided to listen to Colin Kaepernick, who is the most disliked player in the NFL, and pull a special edition shoe they were going to release for Independence Day, because Kaepernick said that the Betsy Ross flag was a symbol of slavery.

The Arizona governor decided to pull their tax incentives.

That is not the end of this story.

Presidential Candidate Julian Castro was asked about this, and agreed that Nike should have pulled the shoe and likened the Betsy Ross flag to the Confederate flag as a symbol of racism that should only be shown in museums as an example of what a country should not be like.

The Governor of California Gavin Newsom, backed up Castro on his assertion while inviting Nike to invest in the Golden State.

It was “the right thing” to pull a shoe with the image of the first flag of these United States.

If Nike builds in California, it would be the first business in a while to do so as businesses are fleeing that state in droves because of its high taxes and anti-business environment.  Nike is looking to build a factory and California environmental regulations and energy costs are among the reasons why California has the slowest growth of manufacturing jobs in the nation.

So Nike could build there, and go broke even quicker as taxes and costs skyrocket for them.

But this brings me to my point.

Casto is a Democratic primary candidate for President and Gavin Newsom is a Democrat golden boy and a popular resistance leader on the Left.

With both of them backing Nike and the Kaepernick interpretation of the Betsy Ross flag, it makes me wonder, have the Democrats finally decided that their core voting block demographic are people who hate every little thing about this history of this country?  Because that is who it seems that they are tripping over themselves to appeal to.

Right now, I can see a 2020 TV add that just has a voice actor come on and say:

“Do you fucking hate America and everything it stands for?  Do you think that this is he most racist and hateful nation in history?  Than you should vote Democrat.”

I just don’t know if it would be an honest Democrat commercial or a sarcastic Trump one.

Now this is a good idea.

After my last post, a Facebook reader made the comment he is subscribed to his town/neighborhood Facebook page and has seen the local Left doing victory laps about Antifa.

This is a good idea and one I am about to follow. Most Civil wars (and even riots as I learned the hard way) with/in your neighborhood. It is good tactics to stay informed who may act his fantasies and try to become the local commissar for the Glorious Revolution.

And keep extensive notes.
