Month: May 2020

I saw a Tweet that explains why the big igloo may be inevitable

From Twitter:

Yep.

This is why I think so many people are fighting so hard for permanent lockdown.

My last week of unemployment was the first week of the federal unemployment subsidy.

I received $278 from my usual Alabama unemployment and $600 from the subsidy.  That is $878 for a week.  In two weeks that would be $1756.

A check of $1756 bi-weekly is equivalent to an pre-tax salary of $55,000 per year or almost $26.50 per hour

If you are a non-essential worker with a salary of less than $55,000 per year and you qualified for maximum unemployment, you make more doing nothing under COVID than you do working.

I suspect that this is why there have been cases of employees ratting out their bosses for keeping jobs open.  Because they want an extended paid vacation at a higher salary.

They can say “you’re killing grandma” but really, they don’t want the gravy train of collecting an entry-level engineer’s salary for watching Netflix all day to end.

The problem is, that is killing business owners and people who have (government declared) non-essential jobs that make more than $55,000 per year.

This is the rumble.

The people for whom the COVID lockdown is a gravy train, backed by the socialists calling themselves Democrats versus the people for whom the COVID lockdown is a financial death sentence backed by the Republicans.

Only one side will win.  The question is: can we sort that out without shooting each other.

Americans discovering another use for guns in a crisis

From Yahoo News:

Americans turn to hunting for food, renewal during pandemic

No shit.

David Elliot first thought of shooting an elk to help feed family and friends back in January when the United States reported its first novel coronavirus case.

Elliot, emergency manager at Holy Cross Hospital in Taos, New Mexico, had always wanted to go big game hunting and, with the pandemic spreading, there seemed no better time to try to fill his freezer with free-range, super-lean meat.

So for the first time in his life, despite not owning a rifle or ever having hunted large animals, he put his name in for New Mexico’s annual elk permit draw.

This is fantastic.  We have a new gun owner.  Not because of self-defense in the strictest sense, but because he’s hungry and he’s going to get burger meat straight from nature.

With some U.S. meat processors halting operations as workers fall ill, stoking fears of shortages, and people having more time on their hands and possibly less money due to shutdowns and layoffs, he is among a growing number of Americans turning to hunting for food, according to state data and hunting groups.

For years the population of hunters has been dwindling, even as guns have become more plentiful.  It’s simply been a demographic change.  More Americans are moving into the suburbs where hunting is less popular.

With people seeing how fragile the supply chain for meat is, going out and getting your own in a crisis has some appeal.

Game and fish agencies from Minnesota to New Mexico have reported an increase in either hunting license sales, permit applications, or both this spring.

Indiana saw a 28% jump in turkey license sales during the first week of the season as hunters likely had more time to get out into the woods, said Marty Benson, a spokesman for the state’s department of natural resources.

“People are starting to consider self-reliance and where their food comes from,” said Forester of the hunter research and training group. “I think we’re all born hunters.”

Self-reliance.  That might be one of the best outcomes of this crisis.  While some whine and winge about the government not doing enough, others are learning self-reliance.  Anything from doing your kid’s hair cuts to learning, to bake your own bread, to doing more home repairs instead of calling a repairman, to getting your own meat out of the woods.  There may be a silver lining in all of this and that is some Americans are re-introduced to the concept of self-reliance.

I hate to see harm come to the agricultural and meatpacking industry.  I have friends in South Dakota whose livelihood is ranching.

Still, if this setback creates more gun owners and more hunters, I’ll gladly accept that silver lining.

I have a confession to make

I was listening to the news and there was a person on air talking about the other, less well known, effects of the Coronavirus outbreak.

One was that the focus on the people of China has caused the pandas to be ignored.  Pitty the poor Chinese panda.

Honestly, I couldn’t give less than a fuck about the giant panda.

It is a bear that is so retarded it can only sit around and eat grass.

Not kidding.

This has nothing to do with humans.  In the early Holocene epoch, there were multiple proto-panda species.  A DNA bottleneck from some natural disaster occurred and now all pandas are cousins.

Pandas are the Charles II of the Habsburg line.  So inbred that they can barely eat and don’t know how to fuck.

Every other species of bear around the world is omnivorous, with the exception of the polar bear which is an obligate carnivore,  and many are apex predators.

The panda, on the other hand, has the dentition and digestive tract of a carnivore but only eats bamboo, and has to eat it for 13 hours a day because they only digest 17% of what they consume.  Cows only eat for 6 hours a day because nearly every other grass-eating mammal is a cud-chewing, four-chamber stomach having rumened, evolved for eating grass.  Pandas transitioned to eating grass because they got to be too mentally and physically handicaped for anything else.

The greatest species of bear is the brown bear or Ursus Arctos, which is such a bear that its name means “bear bear,” first in Latin then in Greek.  The king of bears is the North American subspecies of brown bear, known as the Grizzley whose scientific name is “horrible bear bear” (Ursus Arctos Horribilis).

That’s a bear.

The first rule of nature in North America is “don’t get between a mama Grizzly and her cub.”

You don’t have to worry about that with the panda because the panda probably doesn’t have cubs.  The female is in heat for two days of the year and the male has a three-week mating ritual.  By the time he’s gotten it up, there is a good chance she is no longer in the mood.

Panda mating is such complicated bullshit that we have to show pandas in captivity porn to teach them how to breed.  They are too dumb to screw.

Evolutionary, this is a fucking failure of a species, long destined by the fate of some natural disaster twenty-thousand years ago for the ash heap of history.

But because of some fluke of evolution, they look cute so we do everything we can to delay the inevitable extinction of a useless species.

I don’t care about the panda.  Fuck ’em.

More terrible news out of NYC

From the Daily Mail, because American news won’t cover this.

Nevada nurse who came to NYC to work on the coronavirus frontlines claims minority patients are being murdered by negligent doctors misplacing ventilator tubes and giving unnecessary defibrillation, but ‘nobody cares’

A frontline nurse treating coronavirus in New York has claimed that patients are ‘literally being murdered’ by medical negligence and mismanagement every day, but that ‘nobody cares because they’re all minorities.’

Speaking out in despair 37-year-old Nicole Sirotek described work at the frontline as like ‘going into the f***ing twilight zone,’ and told of hospital units in such disarray that she was once assigned to care for a patient already in a body bag.

The mother-of-two from Elko, Nevada was one of hundreds of medics to travel to New York as the virus surged.

But according to the nurse’s emotional video hospitals are no longer swamped as they once were and there are plenty of nurses in the wards on which she has worked.

There is now, she said, ‘no reason’ for the deaths that she has witnessed other than incompetence, mismanagement and a seemingly reckless lack of care on the part of some hospital personnel.

This is the first whistle blower I’ve heard of regarding patients in New York.

I can’t say if this is reflective of the majority of care or just one hospital.

What in an say is that her accusations are terrible.

She told of one patient who died while waiting for an X-ray because her warning that the anesthesiologist had misplaced a ventilator tube was ignored. She said, ‘Literally only one side of his chest is inflating. He dies.’

She described how a resident doctor defibrillated a patient with an already beating heart. She recalled, ‘The resident starts doing chest compressions which is not what you do. I run to stop him. He f***ing defibrillates him and kills him. I was literally saying, ”Can you stop him he’s going to kill that patient?” And the director of nursing just shook his head and I turned around and he killed the dude.’

Among other horrific incidents she listed are a nurse who placed a feeding tube into a patient’s lungs, a nurse who administered a lethal dose of short acting insulin when she confused it for long acting and another who fell asleep at her station while a patient’s blood pressure dropped without notice causing permanent mental impairment.

She told of one patient who choked to death on his own blood when the anesthesiologist ruptured his esophagus trying to intubate him and another whose lungs were ‘blown out’ by a wrongly set ventilator.

That is almost unbelievable.  But without corroboration, it’s just an accusation.

I will say, that given the horrors that are being reported in New York elderly care facilities, forcing them to take COVID patients, turning them into viral death centers, this might be really happening in poor area hospitals.

If you didn’t think Andrew Cuomo could be a bigger piece of s–t then you don’t know the Cuomos

From Pix11:

Health workers that volunteered to come to NY during pandemic have to pay state income tax: Cuomo

Health care workers that came to New York to help fight the coronavirus pandemic at its epicenter will have to pay state taxes, according to the governor.

He addressed the issues Tuesday at a news conference.

“We’re not in a position to provide any subsidies right now because we have a $13 billion deficit,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. “So there’s a lot of good things I’d like to do, and if we get federal funding, we can do, but it would be irresponsible for me to sit here looking at a $13 billion deficit and say I’m gonna spend more money, when I can’t even pay the essential services.”

Any out-of-state resident who’s come to the Empire State to work on coronavirus relief is subject to the tax after 14 days here.

There are thousands of emergency workers here who’ve responded to requests by Cuomo and Mayor Bill De Blasio for help. Many of them are collecting paychecks from companies back in their home states, which allowed them to come to New York to volunteer.

So if you are a nurse or first responder, and your employer in another state let you help in the epicenter of New York, and you work there for more than days, even though you live in another state and are getting paid in another state, New York is entitled to tax you between 4% and 8.82%.

His Royal Highness Andrew Cuomo will not waive the taxes for out of state volunteers because he needs the money.

And New Yorkers wonder why they are not getting the love and support they did after 9/11.

This is why.  Because a nurse or paramedic who rushed their lives and rushed to help in New York when New York said they were having a crisis didn’t expect to have to pay for the privilege of volunteering to save lives in NYC.

Every bit of news coming out of New York is just shit.

They bumble-fucked the response, killed thousands of elderly with bad policies, and charged out of state workers for their volunteering.

Next time New York has a crisis, I suspect the rest of the country to tell them “fuck you” and wall it off so that the crisis doesn’t spread to the rest of America.

Texas cops use peaceful protestors as an excuse to take their MRAP out for a spin

OPEN TEXAS PROTESTORS ARRESTED OUTSIDE OF ODESSA BAR

Get Texas reopened – that’s the demand from people across West Texas Monday.

Businesses mandated to remain closed, are now open. That includes the Big Daddy Zane’s Bar in West Odessa.

A rally in support of the business spurred the response of the Odessa SWAT team.

Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis confirms eight people were arrested at the rally this afternoon, six for felony unlawfully carrying a weapon on licensed premises.

According to Everything Lubbock:

Owner, Gabrielle Ellison, said she spoke with the Ector County Sheriff’s Office prior to the protest. According to Ellison, she was told everything would be fine as long as men with guns are not seen on the property. Out of respect for law enforcement, she said she confined the men to an area in the back, which is her private property.

So these protesters were around back of a bar, with guns, in a town of 22,000 people and SWAT came out.

Look at this shit:

They rolled out the MRAP, plate armor, and M4s for that.

Why?

Because Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumbass were bored and and needed an excuse to play with the expensive toys the fed.gov gave them.

This kind of shit really undermines respect for law enforcement.

Guys around back of a bar in West Texas with guns doesn’t requite officers Dunkin and Winchell to respond like it’s a bank robbery in West Hollywood.

But that’s what happened because…
