California sheriff’s deputies say they didn’t know it was illegal to lie about evidence on police reports: report

Two former Orange County sheriff’s deputies told a California grand jury they did not know it was against the law to falsify police documents, an offense that led to their firing and conviction amid a widespread department “evidence scandal” that came to light last year, according to a local report.

Bryce Richmond Simpson, 31, and Joseph Anthony Atkinson Jr., 39, testified to a grand jury on Sept. 21 that they were never told it was illegal to write in police reports that they had submitted evidence when they actually had not, the Orange County Register recently reported, citing transcripts of their testimony. Deputies were typically expected to submit evidence by the end of their workdays.

They were allegedly two of at least 17 deputies investigated for potential charges for allegedly claiming in reports that they had booked evidence, as required, but failing to do so sometimes until months later, if at all, according to multiple reports.

Think about what happened next and all the potential convictions that will be challenged because people were convinced based on fabricated evidence.

I guess this was inevitable given that that cops are allowed to lie to you so why not be allowed to lie about you to the courts?

We need cops, we’ve seen what happens in American cities that don’t have enough police.

But this shit is absolutely unacceptable and it needs to be punished hard all the way to the top.

This is came about another meme I posted in Facebook that went something about “Why libertarians hate AOC? Because she stole the acronym of their most important issue.” After that it was a couple of questions of what was AOC (Age of Consent) followed by the libertarians in my timeline explaining what really was the most important issued for Libertarians… about a dozen different ones. This one I had never seen before and I have to say is right in the motherloving money.  But intellectuals love Revolutions only till the consequences land on their feet and they face the crap regular people have to deal with. After that, you will probably see them supporting the revolution from the comfort of the foreign country they ran to avoid the mess they helped create.
From what I found, it originates from the book “The Opium of Intellectuals” written by Raymond Aron originally published in 1955 and I can’t find a dead tree copy for a decent price.

Unless you have been buying ammo by the pallet, you are also feeling the pains of the lack of ammo at a decent price. I am not gonna lie and say I am all fixed because I reload and have components, but there are a couple of calibers I feel pretty satisfied with the amount of components I have.

When I started reloading, I did it because of IDPA competitions and I hated to go hunting for ammo. Back then, reloading 9mm was considered silly because it was abundant and cheap, but not really if you had the time to pick up the reloading hobby (Have I mentioned that reloading is relaxing?). When I gave up IDPA, I ended up with a significant stock of both finish product, components plus the tooling to make my own ammo. Other than refreshing the carry ammo, I never thought about getting more and at this juncture in life, I am happy for not having to fret for pistol calibers. And here is the great truth about reloaders: They do not suffer as much, the whims of the market and politics. It is hard to be controlled by outside influences when you can manufacture your own ammo.

All the experts say (and I agree) that we won’t se the end of this drought till sometime 3rd quarter of 2021. I think reloading presses and ancillary equipment will probably be available earlier, but no idea about the price, not cheap either. Whatever the case, buy ammo and start buying anything for reloading, even if it takes you a year to do so.

And somebody out there reading this will be asking him/herself: “What about the warnings through the years about not using reloads in self-defense to avoid legal problems?” If I am down to using my reloads, our society is at the point where courts don’t matter much and we have more pressing problems.

Someone should ask her why there are no species of camels, horses, or elephants native to North America and why most of the North American mega-fauna went extinct shortly after the arrival of humans.

The news is all over the wire about the breakup of the Remington Outdoor Company following its last bankruptcy.

I know a lot of good people there and my heart goes out to them.

I am waiting for some anti-gun activists to claim victory for this.

It wasn’t them.  It was the motherfucking, sons-of-bitches, piece-of-shit hedge fund managers that bled that company dry they way they do.

It’s a sad day for a 204 year old American company.

Even in New Orleans, it’s still possible to find a decent gun gal every now and again, a refreshing change from all of the wanna-be Antifa kids who are running around asking where to get guns and body armor these days. (I usually tell them that they needn’t worry…come that day, the guns will come along and find them. Not surprisingly, a lot of them grin because they don’t get it.
