Semi-retired like Vito Corleone before the heart attack. Consiglieri to J.Kb and AWA. I lived in a Gun Control Paradise: It sucked and got people killed. I do believe that Freedom scares the political elites.

A missed comment and complimentary corrections.

I had not checked the Comments’ Spam folder for a while and I noticed a post trapped there from a real human, one KG in Oregon.  It brought memories of out old friend Jason Kilgore AKA Baldr Odinson. And if it is you, Jason, don’t be afraid to let us know.

I wanna add my thoughts to his comments, so here I go:

Owning guns in the US is a HOBBY. The NRA is a CLUB for gun owners.

You sat POTATO, we say you are pissing way off the pot and deluded.

They aren’t crusaders for constitutional rights.

The constitutional rights you don’t like.

They aren’t a well trained, well regulated militia.

Do we need to revisit this again Jason KG?  According to Constitution.org:
The phrase “well-regulated” was in common use long before 1789, and remained so for a century thereafter. It referred to the property of something being in proper working order. Something that was well-regulated was calibrated correctly, functioning as expected. Establishing government oversight of the people’s arms was not only not the intent in using the phrase in the 2nd amendment, it was precisely to render the government powerless to do so that the founders wrote it.

They’re a bunch of people with a HOBBY. They think that a little NRA collateral damage in the form of dead children is OK so long as they get to play with there assault toys.

And that is why we can’t have a real conversation to fix the real issues: You are full of crap and foaming at the mouth. Incendiary insults lead to nowhere other than the urgent need to make fun of you.

Does anyone know of another CLUB that defies regulation and can get large numbers of children killed at a moments notice for no reason at all?

The only  aggregate of idiots who can get large numbers of children killed at a moments notice for no reason at all are the ones that after almost 20 years still thinks Gun Free Zones in Schools actually protects Children. Don’t you belong to that club Jason KG?

Maybe they could have done better but none of this is the fault of the FBI or police departments, or mental health professionals or anyone else on the front lines trying to serve and protect.

“Can do better” is applied to your teenage son or daughter if the second coat of varnish did not quite had the finish you wanted or if the Goulash just need one small pinch of salt. What the “FBI or police departments, or mental health professionals” did was a brutal dereliction of duty. And only a few gun control morons are even stepping to defend them… speaking about clubs anyway.

None of the deaths are on the heads of officers, doctors, record keepers or school officials. It’s the fault of a callus and self interested gun CLUB and the lawmakers they paid to put children in jeopardy. This has to end!

Dear Jason KG: It will end when Gun Free Zones are eliminated.  There have been three relevant mass shooting in Florida: The Fort Lauderdale Airport, Pulse Nightclub and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. All there had the same thing in common: They are, by law, Gun Free Zones. Coincidence that they were targets? I was going to say even you could not have the guts to deny it, but I am probably wrong about you having guts.

As for callous, I don’t know anybody in my circle who would not have gone toward the sound of gunfire to try to save the children. Maybe we would have failed, but probably not. But you and your cadre? I can imagine you hiding behind the School Resource Officer waiting for shit to die down  so you can tweet your indignation that serves as cover for your lack of Toxic Masculinity and advanced mental emasculation.

I actually did this.

Sometimes the original title for a post is changed or it is only a working title that evolves and sometimes is just a couple of words so the post shows in the Draft folder. Twice in the last days I have clicked the “publish” button before checking the damn title and making sure is the one I want., so I had to resort to this:

It is right in front of my face… and I am sure I’ll miss it too.

Any ARRP-type comments from the gallery will result in immediate banning and tag you as spammer 🙂 😀

Why would?

Just saw this in Drudge:

 WASHINGTON
Two incidents hit The Miami Herald in recent days that underscore new tactics by those seeking to discredit mainstream media, and they augur what experts said are dark days in the battle between credible news and misinformation…
…In the first incident, a perpetrator used a software tool to create two fake tweets that looked like they came from the account of Alex Harris, a Herald reporter preparing tributes to the slain students. One fake tweet asked for photos of dead bodies at the school and another asked if the shooter was white.

In a second incident, someone again used a software tool to create a phony Miami Herald story — in the high tension following the Parkland shooting — saying that a Miami-Dade middle school faced threats of “potentially catastrophic events” on upcoming dates, indicating that a new mass shooting was in the offing.

Hoax attempts against Miami Herald augur brewing war over fake, real news

I find that I need to take this events with a not-so-small dose of Schadenfreude. The Miami Herald has pushed, twisted and molded news to fit their political vision that  my guess is somebody decided to return the favor in concentrated form.

“Obviously this has broad civic consequence if you have a citizenry that doesn’t know where to turn to get truthful information,” (Edward) Wasserman said. “Your information flows are being contaminated in ways that are very difficult to discern and very difficult to disentangle.”

Dear Mr. Wasserman (Who used to work for the Miami Herald and now is the Dean of the Graduate School of Journalism over at Berkeley) you  know well that the media, specially newspapers have not been interest in the veracity of an event for a long time. They are in the NEWS business not in the TRUTH business. And if anything, the financial degradation of the Miami Herald shows that people have long ago stopped trusting them.

Do you know why the hoax items was believed by many? because journalists in the past have behaved equally ghoulish and insensitive. How many repetitions and versions of the question “How do  you feel?” being asked to an obviously grieving person who just lost a loved one have settled the idea of journalistic callousness among us. And the undisguised left-wing leanings found in editorials and articles do not help making us trust you. So, when we hear or read outlandish stuff like that, it is easy to take seriously. There is a reason why The Onion and Duffle Blog are so popular: They are outlandish, the sound good but they don’t hide they are full of crap and making shit up for profit.

Let me tell you something that happened just this past week. I had not been a subscriber of the Miami Herald in years, but kept one for the Nuevo Herald which is the Spanish Language newspaper of the county and run by the same company to keep mom entertained. My sainted mother got tired of the BS and said not to waste any more money on that “pedazo de mierda” (You use Google translate if you want) so I cancelled that subscription too over a month ago.  On Thursday I get a call from them asking me to reconsider my decision. I don’t take offense since I can understand how any company would like to keep making money but I told the young lady on the phone that mom was the only reader and she is the one not wanting. Then she asked me if I would consider a subscription for the Sunday edition only because “it has well over $100 in coupons every week!”

I asked She Who Must Be Obeyed since she is the  coupon-warrior of the house and the offer was waved off. She explained that she gets better coupons online and keeps them on het phone. Plus we get “sales bulk media” (junk mail) every Thursday that has pretty much the same crap and it is for free. I passed along the denial to the Herald Sales lady and hung up.

It did not strike me till a bit later that the Miami Herald could be so desperate that was using as an excuse to subscriber its Sunday Edition as a vessel to deliver discount coupons for Publix and  $19.99 oil change at Midas. I am guessing it is the American Version of England’s using the newspaper for Fish and Chips.

Let’s face it: Fake news complaining that somebody is doing Fake News using their name simply does not strike much sympathy in this day and age.

“You never let a serious crisis go to waste”

The quote from Rham Emmanuel is being played (finally) by the Florida Republicans. As you can imagine, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel is not the flavor of the month in Florida, even more so than the NRA and he has not received 1/10 of the media crap.

Scott’s office sent out a news release saying he asked the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to “immediately investigate the law enforcement response” to the shooting, and in a statement later Sunday, Israel welcomed the probe and pledged full cooperation.

Broward sheriff grilled on red flags during lengthy CNN interview

I have no idea if FDLE likes/hates/indifferent to Israel, but this is not a joke. The Governor can remove the Sheriff if it is found to bear responsibility on why his department’s procedures collapsed so bad with the Nick Cruz affair.

But the best use of crisis goes to Rep. Richard Corcoran, Speaker of the Florida house:

And that made me think: “Hey, the could not find a Democrat who is pissed at Israel? And where have been the Democrats other than trying to get bills to ban “assault weapons”? Come to think of it, there has been almost (or no) criticism from the Democrats against Sheriff Israel, how come?”

Never mind.

The biggest mistake since “Jackbooted Thugs.”

Let it be absolutely clear. The loss of a discount will neither scare nor distract one single NRA member from our mission to stand and defend the individual freedoms that have always made America the greatest nation in the world.

NRA Statement on Corporate Partnerships

.

Back in 1995, Wayne LaPierre and the NRA were subjected to a similar barrage of bad press because of a letter to members where he used the term “Jack-booted government thugs”

It doesn’t matter to them that the semi-auto ban gives jack-booted government thugs more power to take away our Constitutional rights, break in our doors, seize our guns, destroy our property, and even injure or kill us.

Schumer, Feinstein, Kennedy, Owens and the rest of the anti-gunners want more and more gun control.

This was the time of an unchecked ATF raiding homes on the slightest of excuses and many times on contrived evidence. Ruby Ridge and Waco were still fresh in our minds and the mood of the country was not quite in favor of the NRA, in fact probably less so than now.

Many people announced the death of the NRA. President George H Bush made a great gesture of renouncing to his NRA Life Membership (He got one for his election campaign, he was never a long tome member) and Senator Dole (R) somberly announced to the Sunday Talk Shows that the NRA needed ” to get a little image repair job.”

A half-hearted apology was made and Intelligentsia told us about the NRA taking a hit and decreasing is waning influence. The Fake News of the time said that the membership dropped from 3.5 million to 2. 6 in 1998. Hell, we were finished! And then came the 2000 elections proving everyone that the NRA not only had not lost membership but it had increased to the point that the sure-thing Democrat candidate for the Democratic party, Al Gore lost in his own home stare thanks to the Gun Owners vote and work from the NRA.

It turned out that the Media Crap Storm for the “Jack-booted government thugs” was the biggest recruitment tool the NRA had at the time and it was painfully obvious during the presidential election and the years after that. Instead of the 2.6 million member, we now stand at over 5 million and probably growing as we speak.

Something I have seen in Twitter is the loads of people showing their NRA membership cards as way of support and demonstrating we are not being cowed by the Social Media Frenzy. But one thing I have noticed in all these demonstrations is an incredible amount of screen captures of online receipts of people becoming NRA members! And also many people who had their memberships elapse and not only renewed but became Life Members or Endowment Members

I think the Media-Driven lynch mob against the NRA is backfiring where it counts: Voting members. The CNN’s Children’s Crusade is already losing steam and we are still eight months away from the elections and probably by then the super angry new voters won’t even bother to go to the polls. NRA members have long memories, longer knives and will vote.

Their huge mistake was to try to blame the NRA exclusively for the Parkland Shooting even when the evidence of grave government neglect was popping out and culminating with the four BSO deputies staying outside the school when the shooting was happening. Just because the NRA is premier Gun Rights organization and favorite boogie man and punching bag, does not excuse the gigantic screw ups from every government organization that had any contact or had information about Cruz. I do believe that in the mind of many, the NRA was being treated as a scapegoat to cover the mistakes made. And the stupidly one-sided town hall meeting served to confirm that.

And to put the cherry on top, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, defender of Free Speech joins the voices demanding the shut down of NRA-TV from streaming services. How can you speak with forked tongue and not expect people to get pissed off?

In my opinion, the Left and the Press made a horrible miscalculation that is gonna have an impact in November. I just hope the GOP realizes that and does not do something stupid that may cause them problems in the long run… and medium too.
