Tell me again it’s about the virus and not poli
From the California Globe:
L.A. Teachers Union: Schools Can’t Reopen Unless Charter Schools Shut Down, Police Defunded
In what appears to be a labor union power play, the United Teachers Los Angeles union announced Friday that Los Angeles Unified District schools effectively cannot reopen unless certain conditions are met: privately operated publicly funded charter schools are shut down, police are defunded, Medicare-for-All government-run health care is passed, a statewide wealth tax is implemented, housing for homeless is fully funded, “financial Support for Undocumented Students and Families,” and they want a federal bailout because “the CARES and HEROES Acts provided funding for K-12, both fell far short of what would be needed to rescue districts and state and local governments.” The source cited for this claim is the National Education Association, the largest labor union and special interest group in the United States.
The teachers were sent home because of the virus. We’re told schools are to stay closed because of the virus.
Multiple groups from the White House to the American Academy of Pediatrics want schools to reopen because the kids need it.
Teachers were saying they were afraid of the virus.
Now the LA County teachers have made it clear that the virus isn’t on their radar. They want social justice and Leftist insanity.
According to the NY Post, the teachers union wants the police defunded and money handed over to them.
They also want charter schools closed, which they see as a threat to them.
If they don’t get all the political garbage they want they will not return to work and blame the virus for it.
The LA teachers have totally ripped the mask off. This us no longer about the virus. This is about using the virus to strong arm the people into acquiescing to extreme political positions that would be untenable under normal circumstances.
True story inspired by a Friday funny
A buddy sent me this:
So, when the wife and I were house shopping we took a tour of a place that had a beautiful, second story veranda that was the entire length of the front of the house.
I said that if we moved here I’d have to get a new sign for the block.
Instead of “This community is protected by neighborhood watch.”
We’ll need one that says “This community is protected by neighborhood overwatch.”
The realtor said “I don’t get it.”
I looked at her and said “this veranda would make it perfect snipers hide.”
After the house she stopped returning our calls.
It seems I was wrong: Sleep is racist after all.
Old blog brother Roko just sent me this:
Black Power Naps is an artistic initiative with components including physical installations, zines, an opera, and more. But it’s also a recognition of the hundreds of years of sleep deprivation that Black people and people of color have experienced as a result of systemic racism, a way to pushback against the false stereotype that Black people are lazy, and an investigation of the inequitable distribution of rest. That lack of sleep has serious consequences.
I am not going to lower myself to give them a link back to that load of crap. Basically what they are saying is that slaves were sleep deprived and that somehow that sleep deprivation has carried through the generations ( in the DNA?) and now they are suffering for the lack of sleep. And they demand reparation in the form of extra free time, I am guess paid free time.
Seriously, I have to give them props for coming up with such an imaginative load of mental manure.
A New Player enters the Portland Riot Games. Lefties are not happy.
Here is the video:
Antifa has not processed yet that Federal LEOs do not play by the same set of rules as the castrati Portland Police, nor they need permission from the local government to protect Federal buildings and employees. The violators are not getting a gentle wrist treatment and let go the same day as it is the normal with the local prosecutors, but being charged with Federal violations which are not a joke. Hell, I just found out last night that there is no bail system for Federal cases! If I am surprised, imagine the shock for these youngins when they find out the millions given by celebrities to cover their misdeeds amount to nothing but confetti when it comes to bail.
And as for the use of “unmarked” minivans: I am not really surprised at the use of unmarked units, since a lot of Federal vehicles carry no obvious identifiers, but being transported in a Soccer Mom Vehicle? That is embarrassing. I mean, if I am to be arrested, I want at least a good old paddy wagon or better yet, a Bearcat so I get some street cred. Mom’s mini-van? It is like your parents had to come pick you up from the Principal’s office.
Portland’s Mayor is not happy and has called for the Fed LEOs to either stay inside their building or leave altogether. The problem is that the Feds do not trust him to take care of the Federal Buildings and personnel since prohibiting Portland police to assist ICE a couple of years ago.
Political actions have consequences, dear Mayor. And yes, you look like a frigging idiot now.
Enjoy.
UPDATE: Our old friend David Hogg joins the Pinochet’s Disappeared Chorus Line. His daddy being a retired fed, he should know better.
He probably does, but needs to bring back relevance.
Did you know falling asleep is racist?
True. Thank God for the internet and constant updates.
Nearly 2,000 people called for the termination of a New York City professor after she reportedly fell asleep during an anti-racist meeting held on Zoom.
Patricia Simon, a theater arts associate professor at Marymount Manhattan College, is facing requests for her removal after a June 29 Zoom meeting to discuss the adoption of an “anti-racist framework.”
The Change.org petition reached 1,902 supporters before being closed.
“This is a petition that is demanding the removal a faculty member who does not align with the anti-racist views and actions that were promised to be adopted by the department earlier this week at the Town Hall meetings,” wrote Marymount student Caitlin Gagnon, who started the petition two weeks ago.
Tovarisch, in the era of BLM, any idiot is a commissar. Any little idiot with a little thirst for membership in the Club Of The Racially Righteous and Totally Woke.
The only reason that corporate America invests heavily in the purchase of coffee and its related equipment is because of endless boring meetings that require heavy intakes of the stimulant to remain awake, and still then many fail and the eventual doze off happens. But other than the embarrassing waking up while everybody is staring at you and the disgusted gaze of the boss, nothing else hap[pens. But for another Zoom meeting dealing with fake outrage? You must hang or at least lose your means of subsistence.
We are now living under the watch of a Heterodoxy Patrol just like the Mutawa (Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice ) in Saudi Arabia whose only function is to seek and to immediately punish anybody who stray even the slightest from Islamic law.
We need a readjustment in idiotic attitudes soon, if only to avoid tragedy. They eventually going to attack the wrong person, the one that will take and return the favor one thousand percent and I don’t meant a simple counter-signature campaign in the net but something more permanent in Real Life.
Actually, it will have to happen so a deeper-lasting lesson is taught.
Even more good news about recent spike in gun sales
March and then June of this year broke records on gun sales. March had 3.7 million NICS checks and June had 3.9 million NICS checks.
Those are good numbers, but I am hoping to see Americans break the 4 million mark later this year. That would be a watershed.
The raw numbers don’t tell the whole story.
From NPR:
Sales Of Guns To First Time Owners Rise Amid COVID-19 Pandemic
Gun sales have hit new records as the country grapples with a pandemic and protests. But unlike previous spikes, it’s not gun enthusiasts driving sales, but rather first time gun owners.
Americans are buying more guns than ever before. People worried about the pandemic sometimes buy guns. People worried about protests in this country sometimes buy guns. And by one estimate, people have bought 3 million more guns than normal since March. Almost half of all those sales are to first-time gun owners. NPR’s Chris Arnold reports.
Gun store owners interviewed across the country are anecdotally reporting even higher rates of first-time buyers.
Gun sales rising in 2020, especially among first time buyers
Empty cases and hooks with no displays have become Jeff Anderson’s new reality.
“I fill the shelves, and I can’t get them out here no quicker than that, and they’re gone,” Anderson said.
Since March, sales at Anderson’s shop, Gunz Inc., have been higher than ever. Anderson told WAVE 3 News a majority of the purchases are coming from first-time gun buyers.
“Sixty to seventy percent are first time [buyers],” Anderson said. “A lot of them tell us without asking that they’re scared.”
Gun shops see surge in gun and ammunition sales during COVID-19 pandemic
“It’s been quite dramatic as far as sales, there’s been a huge uptick,” said Steve Ou, sales manager at Guns Warehouse, which was packed with customers.
Ou said at their shop, they are noticing a spike in first-time buyers. “I think since we started around late March with covid I think 60% to 70% are first time buyers,” he said.
The stated half of gun sales to first-time buyers that the NSSF is claiming may be a national average or a more conservative estimate, but in some places, retailers are claiming 60-70% of sales are to first-time gun owners.
Not just that, but the demographic of first-time buyers is changing too.
Gun sales up, more first-time buyers, many women
Gun shops across the country are staying busy, including shops on the Gulf Coast.
“The way gun sales normally work is we go into the holiday season and people are buying gifts, that type of thing. We roll into tax season, that’s usually a good time, then it kind of drops off,” said Josh South, owner of South’s Outpost.
But this year is different.
He believes more people are just putting more thought into personal protection these days.
He said, “I think the pandemic started it, but I think people are just becoming more aware of their surroundings and want to be able to protect themselves and their family.”
And it sounds like he’s exactly right! People who have never owned a gun before are buying them now, particularly females.
“I’ve been wanting to do this for a while but this is the tipping point and I need to protect myself,” said Innessa Solovyev, first-time gun buyer.
A surge in first-time gun-owning women.
In dark Blue cities and states across the country, mayors and governors have let violent and destructive riots happen. Sometimes they support them tacitly, other times the government supports the riots openly.
The way the Left has turned on police has lead to a massive spike in crime. Shootings are up 130% in NYC, 67% in Philadelphia, 87% in Buffalo, 71% in Fresno, 78% in Chicago, and so on. Whenever the news covers the violence, it’s rising.
Violence up, cops down, 24/7 coverage of “peaceful protesters” looting, burning, and beating people in the streets.
You are on your own and nobody is coming to save you.
It might have taken a confluence of horrible circumstances to do this, but a lot of eyes are being opened to that reality.
The Left just dumped a bunch of red pills into the water supply.
