Why yes! That would be a hole in my roof! They needed a bigger hole to get to the small hole that was producing a leak.
Nothing roof related is cheap in South Florida. $1,300 to find and fix a small leak. That is a hard shave for us and we are still waiting for the AC Maintenance bill. The trip to the upcoming weekend of Blog Shoot will be our official yearly vacation… and the first vacation we have taken in more than a decade. Efffing gas prices going up not helping either.
Oh well.
Update:
And finished. That is the original color of the shingles which will disappear in about 6 months to a year.
🙁
Miggy, when I get to my computer I will send you a donation via paypal…
Very much appreciated.
Arg. We had a leak last winter – my sympathies.
To pull an earlier thread … Remind me again how much an all-metal roof would cost to put in?
10 years ago mine was $1600. 800 material s and 800 labor….24×24 building.
Thanks. If one had the wherewithal, and especially if one were within half a decade of needing to replace the roof anyway, a repair like this would make it very tempting.
Oh man, sorry to hear that. NOTHING in Florida having to do with roofs is cheap. Never has been… sigh
So, could you explain why to a non-Floridian? Serious question. I get that there are regional “it’s always been that way”s for a lot of things; but a similar repair here in NM cost us a few hundred bucks a year or so back, and that involved adding flashing between roof sections, too.
