Almost 3 months later and we are still dealing with the packed crap. I had been in a foul mood trying to figure out where the heck I had a couple of crates with ammo and brass I knew I loaded in the container but now I could not find. I was specially mad because one of them had my small stash of .22LR.
BINGO! Found them.
You guys read the tribulations of finding ammo in Miami, so you can imagine how pissed off I was thinking I had misplaced it or had it stolen somehow. Funny thing, that bag of .223 shells has been with me years before I ever got my first AR. I tried to sell it a couple of times, but there were no takers because ammo was cheap back then. And it is no longer for sale, suckers! The other shells are part of the 357 magnum stock for which I do have a revolver but eventually I will hunt for a lever action rifle.
If you excuse me, Dr. Motrin awaits. I keep forgetting ammo is heavy.
Its like Christmas when you find it….
Be careful when you go to process that .223/5.56. I have a boat load of .223 cases that I need to finish reloading. The big issue is that many of older cases were berdan primed. This means there are two small off center flash holes rather than the larger centered flash hole of boxer primed cases.
If you try to punch out the berdan primer you will need to replace your punch if you are not careful.
I now have a 100% inspection to verify if the case is berdan or boxer for all ammo.
Yeah, I know trying to teach grandma how to suck eggs…
Jeebus Miguel, you need more ammo than that! I hope that Tennessee has a better crop of freedom seeds to be found in the wild than Florida did.
You ain’t lying!.
There were 14 wooden crates like that in total bringing my ammo, lead, brass and bullets.
I am still woefully short compared with some of you. 😀
That’s it? I hope not. I consider 10,000 rounds of .22LR an acceptable minimum amount to stockpile. And considering that it’s $.10 a pop now I should’ve stockpiled 50,000 rounds.
As for weight. Each ammo can I have is close or at 40lbs each.
Now I’m actually curious how much I have in terms of weight. I can make a decent guess.
I am kinda short of those numbers…damn it. I shall hunt for more.
Miguel that is a good start but when the houseplant leaves the people’s house you need at least a metric ton more just in case another rat gains entry at a later date.
God bless us one and all if either he doesn’t leave or another tyrant sneaks in.
