Semi-retired like Vito Corleone before the heart attack. Consiglieri to J.Kb and AWA. I lived in a Gun Control Paradise: It sucked and got people killed. I do believe that Freedom scares the political elites.

Hurricane Supplies: This is the time to buy.

Allow me to introduce to you my generator:

Bought “second-hand” after Wilma from somebody who used it all of 8 hours and decided he wanted a whole house system. We paid $400 and IIRC, back then this baby was running well over the $500 mark. I am sure that after a decade, there are more efficient and cheaper generators out there and that only means one thing: Somebody wants to get rid of his and you can get it for even less.

Go through your Wish List of things you want for the next hurricane or natural disaster and then start combing the local selling exchanges online. Get what you can and store it properly. Make a generator top on your list because they do come handy. We had a fridge and a freezer full with food bought before the hurricane was a threat and nothing was spoiled; that alone paid for the $400. And the additional bonus was to run the fans to fend off the mortal heat we had inside the house. Kid you nor, it reached 91 degrees.

PS: The white stuff on the tires is Loctite insulating foam. You see, the tires were not solid and the rubber cracked after many years of faithful service. It is a pain in the butt to drag that thing on flats, so I found out some videos in YouTube that showed how to convert them into solid tires by using insulating foam. I used Loctite rather than Great Stuff because the product dries bigger and denser… which led to some excess pouring out from locations I did not make sure were properly covered. Really, you don’t want to see them tires before I installed them back.  And they are not perfectly round, but then again I am not planning on entering the generator into a NASCAR race, just need to drag it in and out storage and that is good enough.

Catholic Versus Jews is not a thing.

This was supposed to be a comment on J. Kb.’s post, but it got long so it requires its own post.

Pope John XIII began the groundwork to stop the Catholics v Jews stupidity. The Vatican Council 2 established Judaism as where the Catholic Church came from and it could not be denied or rejected.

“The Church of Christ acknowledges with a grateful heart that the beginnings of the faith and of its election, along with the saving mystery of God, can already be found among the Patriarchs and Prophets. For all the believers in Christ, the sons of Abraham according to the faith (cf. Gal. 3:7), are included in the vocation of that same Patriarch and that the salvation of the Church is mystically prefigured in the exodus of the Chosen People from the land of bondage. The Church, a new creature in Christ (cf. Eph. 2:15), cannot forget that it is a continuation of that people with whom of old God, out of his ineffable mercy, was pleased to make his Old Covenant.”
“On the Attitude of Catholics Toward Non-Christians and Especially Toward Jews”  November 8, 1963.

I went to a Catholic school and I remember being drilled on how it was a now a sin to have anti-Semite feelings and to spread the word in our families if we encountered it (This was around 1967-68, still fresh) and I remember having Jewish kids with us at school. They did not look different from anybody so there was no prejudice other that the usual crap that happens among kids.

I do remember a little story published about John XXIII meeting with Rabbis at the Vatican’s entrance and asking them to come in first by saying; “Old testament before the New Testament.”

That sealed it better than any papal decree could.

One more thing, Antisemitism was unheard of in Venezuela till the Chavez revolution. For some reason, Socialism always ends up either blaming the Gringos and/or the Jews for its failings. Lots of Jewish families did not wait for shit to get started against them and took off for better places. Those who remained, did so while liquidating assets, moved to secure compounds under armed guard and rumor has it they were former IDF.  The government was smart enough not to fuck with them.

This is Venezuela now. You cannot tell how utterly embarrassing this is to me.

“Death to Judeo-Democracy.” WTF is that?

“David, I shit on your star.”

“Zionist assassins” and “Zionist Terrorists.”

These are the product of the same sick fucks that would love to see Bernie Sanders as president and Antifa his shock troops.

There is no difference between Nazis and Antifa other than the way they are dressed and both deserve clean head shots for supporting this crap.

“Miguel! You are advocating violence!’ You bet your ass I am as Antifa is already out and about saying they will use violence against anybody they don’t like…. including Jews.

After that, you are next.

Paul Ryan Will Not Let Congress Touch Concealed Carry Reciprocity but…

He explained that he secured the necessary votes to defund DC gun control at a time when no specific event provided the impetus for doing so. Now, however, the Alexandria baseball practice attack has provided impetus, making the passage of HR 2909 a no-brainer. Yet Massie admitted, “Paul Ryan will not let me bring that amendment to the floor.”

And we still manage to pick up three more co-sponsors:

Rep. Rohrabacher, Dana [R-CA-48] 09/13/2017
Rep. Gallagher, Mike [R-WI-8] 09/12/2017
Rep. Davidson, Warren [R-OH-8] 09/12/2017

Those make it 212.

Ryan has become a whiny brat trying to spoil shit for everybody because nobody likes him anymore.

I am amazed to see that both parties are in a fierce competition to see who burns and crashes the biggest and more spectacular.

You know what’s really annoying after a big natural event?

After you have assessed damages, done clean up, hopefully got your power back soon enough and are on your way to some sort of normalcy? Packing your stuff.

Of course, it is not just “trow shit in the box and put it away.” It needs to be properly cleaned, preserved if needed, replace spent items and even improved on stuff you already have.

IE: I realized that my seriously hand-made heavy-duty extension cord was missing from action. I did happen to have plenty of spare cable from another job and the male and female plugs I had as spares were used. Now they need to be replaced.

Somehow some humidity got in the generator’s gas tank and it was performing a bit roughly. I had to go out and cruise around till I found an open gas station and bought two small containers of gas treatment. That solved the problem and one is now stored in the Generator box of stuff.

And yes, in the next couple of days, the generator’s gas tank will be emptied and the oil changed before storing it. I am also making the tires flat-free because South Florida weather will ruin rubber like termites to cheap wood.

What is on my list to buy? An adapter to fill the 1 lb propane bottles from your BBQ propane bottle. And I need to look for an adapter hose to connect the gas stove to the regular BBQ propane bottle. I would love to have both options.

Another Streamlight Siege lamp will be bought. I can’t stop singing the praises of this little thing.

Maybe another pair of good gloves just to leave in the hurricane kit. A back up for the back up of the originals.

Something always go wrong, but this time it was non-consequential. The stove’s knobs came apart, I am guessing cheap plastic. I did not enjoy having to use pliers to get some cooking done, but I remembered I had 2 bass guitar volume knobs somewhere in a closet from a AK safety lever modification project from years go. The fit was tight enough a mallet was needed to convince the knobs to go in. Don’t knock it, it worked.

Some clean ups are bigger than mine.
