The summer of 1919 was particularly nasty when it came to social unrest. Soldiers came home from the Great War only to find that the jobs they left behind were taken over by the black workforce. Racial tension was high and the Bolsheviks of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) manipulated both sides against each other for political profit. Killings soon followed.
