And, let us not forget the dumbest part of this situation:

We all needed the good news and the laugh.

President Trump announced with the designation of Antifa as a Terrorist group (and AG Barr officially set things in motion) . And we have heard of the support that this group has from the morons governing Portland to the Joe Biden staff contributing money for their bail.

But this from the ACLU? Sorry, whatever little respect they had left, it went down the drain.

Let me see if you can process this:

Antifa has damaged property both public and private and that is Free Speech.
Antifa has physically attacked others so they cannot express their opinion and that is Free Speech.
They have rioted and set fires on campus so “controversial” speakers cannot give conferences and that is free speech.
Antifa has threatened and injured journalists so they can’t cover what they do and that is Free Speech.

Got it.

First of all, this needs to be said because I’m not aware of any pundit saying it first.

There seem to be three groups active on the streets right now:

1. 1. Actual protesters in the streets who have a legitimate grievance against an abusive cop and a system that protected him for too long.
   2. Radical activists who are using the protests as an excuse to cause real shit.  They are smashing windows and burning things.
   3. Looters who are using the chaos caused by Group 2 and to a lesser degree Group 1 as cover to steal everything they want that isn’t nailed down.  The people taking TV’s from Target or looting the Gucci and Louis Vuitton don’t care about the death of George Floyd or racial Leftist ideology.  This is the same mentality that causes looting after a hurricane or earthquake: they can get away with it so they will.

Nobody seems to be willing to parse these.

The Left says they are all protesters, and unfortunately too many on the right ignore the few people who have a real, serious grievance about a bad cop who choked a man to death on a city street, to call them all thugs.

What is interesting is that we’ve caught glimpses of legitimate protesters catching and calling out the radical activists.

Data from the arrests shows that there are a lot of semi-professional radicals in the streets trying to stir up shit.

The radical Left is being caught red-handed stirring the shit-pot and people don’t like it, so they are blaming it on Trump and white supremacists.

This will only make it go more out of control.  Which is what they want, really.

The wide use of cellphone cameras and people recording the police as brought to light many cases of police brutality resulting in bad cops getting punished.

That is a good thing.  I want dirty, abusive cops off the streets.

However, there is a dark side to this, and it is a tactic currently being employed by the protesters.

Here it is in a nutshell.

• • Protesters scream, curse, and spit in officers’ faces for twelve-plus hours of riot duty.
  • The officer has spent all day in the sun in his riot gear baking, catching an unbelievable level of abuse, and is down to his last nerve.
  • Some protester gets right up in the cops face and does something that causes him to react with force.
  • The Twitter mob shows ONLY the cop’s response and not the three days worth of around the clock abuse he’s just taken.
  • The cop is immediately doxxed and targeted and Leftist politicians demand his firing.

None of these Leftist politicians mentioned how ANTIFA was throwing Molotov Cocktails at police cars with the police inside.

When NYPD are in their cars, having objects thrown at them, knowing that other people had just attempted to burn some other NYPD officers alive, you’d expect that they wouldn’t want to sit there and let protesters box them in until they were lit on fire.

That part of the story is not told.

This is cop baiting, pure and simple, and the protesters are using every ugly aspect of cancel culture – manipulated cellphone footage gone viral and internet sleuthing – to destroy police.

The cops that are working to control these riots are being stabbed in the back by Leftist politicians, aided by gotcha cancel culture activists.

I suspect the next thing will be the police just walking away.  If they are attacked in front by dangerous rioters and in the back by Leftist politicians they have no choice but to give up.  Fuck it and drive on.

Yes, Minnesota is an Open Carry State and the gentlemen were legally right and free to carry. Unfortunately, that was not the strategic thing to do.

Do you remember the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans? Even though it was illegal, orders were issued to confiscate guns.

And the aggrieved pair can take the cops to court and will probably win their case. But ladies and gents, we are in special and trying circumstances and if history teaches us anything about times like this is that common sense and the appreciation for the finest points of Constitutional Rights goes out the window. You must stop thinking like a graduate of the Facebook Law School and think realistically (tactically if you rather use the term.)

They were detained, weapons confiscated and then let go. What you have now is two unarmed folks having to walk back home and I hope they have back up long guns.

When the shit hits the fan (and in case you have not noticed, it has) posturing is not the best of strategies.
