Tactical Weinstein

I do not like Taran Butler of Taran Tactical fame.

I’ve met him and it’s very clear that he is quite full of himself.

More than that, I have a real issue with this ethics, or lack thereof, when it comes to supporting the gun community.

He made himself rich and famous because of the competitive shooting community.  He is a skilled shooter, national and world champion, I won’t deny that.  His wins to build a brand, Taran Tactical Innovations, that sells very expensive gear to other competitive shooters and those in the gun community.  TTI Glocks are the in thing for John Wick fanbois.

Other than selling overpriced (it’s good stuff but it’s overpriced) stuff to the gun community, what does he do for it?

You can’t go and learn from Taran Butler how to level up from A Class to Grand Master.  He’s too busy hanging out with A list celebs, teaching them to shoot for way more money than you can pay him.  And when those celebs wear orange and run their mouths calling for gun bans and saying you don’t need an AR-15, Butler remains silent.  Because he knows that doesn’t mean him, even in California, because he’s got a special pass to own the good stuff because he trains A list Hollywood celebs.

And if Hollywood gets its wish and you can’t own anything that holds more than 10 rounds, and his 42 round Glock mag extension gets banned, he won’t say boo as it’s not really going to hurt his bottom line because he’s still renting his time and range out to Grabass Entertainment to choreograph the gunplay for John Wick 9.

But Butler might be getting his comeuppance.  It seems that he’s spent too much time around Hollywood and its rubbed off on him in the worst way.

These were some of the Taran Butler memes floating around the internet yesterday.

TDS: From murdering one man to denying aid to Brown People

After Hurricane Maria tons and tons of aid plus more money than the budget of the State of Florida for a full year. Still we saw the crowds of people begging for food and water plus the politicians, both from the Island and the Main land crapping on Trump’s and FEMA’s lousy efforts. Water was delivered but conveniently forgotten by the local government even after it was found in a remote airstrip. And boxes with military Meals Ready to Eat were found in dumpsters, food that it was in perfect shape just thrown away.  The Narrative of Trump “doing” to Puerto Rico what Bush did to New Orleans had to be maintained (Republicans are racists!) so even with evidence, nothing much happened.

But Puerto Rico got hit again by bad earthquakes and people was again in hardships and I guess somebody remembered where they were still hiding supplies for Hurricane Maria and went to loot the warehouse to get some food and water for himself and the neighbors. Word spread and suddenly it made it to the news. That has been rocking PR for days now, but it has not made it here as it is inconvenient. But the worse part is the video above where they confirm that there was not one warehouse but several found stocked with relief supplies from Hurricane Maria times and never distributed. How much of that is wasted now? All the water for sure and the rest you will need to check the expiration dates.

Billions of dollars probably wasted and probably nobody will serve one day in jail. why? Because Orange Man so Bad You Can Kill Brown People To Remove Him.

Gun news you missed because of the Va rally

Everyone was gearing up for the Virginia gun rally, so this slipped past our radar at the time.

From The Hill:

Trump slams Bloomberg over comments on man who shot Texas gunman

President Trump lashed out at former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Sunday over comments Bloomberg made about a man who killed a gunman in a Texas church shooting by returning fire with his own weapon.

Bloomberg addressed the December shooting at West Freeway Church of Christ during an address in Montgomery, Ala., on Jan. 1 as he focuses his attention on states set to vote later in the primary schedule.

“It may be true that someone in the congregation had his own gun and killed the person who murdered two other people, but it’s the job of law enforcement to have guns and to decide when to shoot,” the former mayor said earlier this month, adding, “You just do not want the average citizen carrying a gun in a crowded place.

The gunman in the White Settlement church was put down in six seconds.  Lives were saved because of that.

Bloomberg wanted the parishioners there to call the police and let them show and decided if the bad guy needed to be shot.  How many more would have been killed in that time, we don’t know, but it would have served Bloomberg’s interests to have a bunch of flyover state residents he doesn’t know or care about die so he can push gun control.

The only threat licensed concealed carry poses is to cut short Bloomberg’s talking points.

And the fact that he said that in Alabama shows he doesn’t know his audience.

I can’t think of a Church around here in Huntsville that doesn’t have at least one armed citizen at the door for every service.  The local ranges and instructors have been doing shooting classes for church volunteers since the Sutherland Springs church shooting back in 2017.  And they are all booked.

I didn’t expect Bloomberg to have any other opinion, but for him to voice it, and voice in a pro-gun southern state like Alabama.

Wow, he’s a schmuck.

How not to run a peaceful city – Democrats vs law enforcement in Baltimore

New York City is not the only east coast city where cops making an arrest get assaulted by a mob.

From the New York Post:

Video shows Baltimore sergeant getting attacked while making arrest

A viral video showing a Baltimore sergeant getting kicked by a group of onlookers while trying to make an arrest has been denounced as “appalling” as the city struggles to curb crime, reports say.

The violent encounter unfolded just before midnight late Friday night when the Baltimore cop, identified only as Sgt. Simpson, attempted to arrest a man who allegedly spat in the officer’s face, according to CBS’s 13 WJZ.

And the video:

That’s bad, but it’s to be expected.

Remember that in 2016 during the Freddie Gray riots in Baltimore, the mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake ordered police to “give those who wished to destroy space to do that”.

That only made the riots worse.

After this particular incident, the Baltimore Fraternal Order of Police called out the city’s government for their chronic mishandling of crime that caused this and for Baltimore to be America’s most dangerous city in 2019.

Here is how the State’s Attorney’s Office responded:

Note this bit:

Baltimore police are now fighting with the anti-cop mayor and State Attorney Marilyn Mosby.

Keep in mind Mosby with the prosecutor that was sued for malicious prosecution for her actions in the trial against the police involved in the Freddie Gray incident.

It’s clear that Mosby has it out for the police more than the criminals that attack the police when they are trying to make an arrest.

There is no way the police can continue to do their jobs in Baltimore under such circumstances.

Now that my sister no longer lives in that God-forsaken city, I say let the Left had its “no more cops” dream, and every Baltimore police officer should quit and apply for work elsewhere.

More profiles in professional mendacity

David Rothschild, according to his biography:

I am an economist at Microsoft Research in New York City. I have a Ph.D. in applied economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. I have written extensively, in both the academic and popular press. My work pushes the boundaries on varying data and methods: polling, prediction markets, social media and online data, and large behavioral and administrative data. The work focuses on solving practical and interesting questions including: mapping and updating public opinion, the market for news, effect of advertising, finance, and an economist take on public policy.

I am also a fellow at the Applied Statistics Center at Columbia and the Penn Program on Opinion Research and Election Studies.

So this is a man who makes his money of his reputation as an impartial researcher of economics and, market and social trends.

Which makes me wonder why he chose to Tweet this form his verified account:

I guess these are white men terrorizing him (shamelessly stolen from Miguel’s post).

Here is my question, why would anyone interested in objective data analysis hire this man when he is willing to make demonstrably false statements about a social trend?  Something he is supposed to be an expert in.

I guess I should be grateful he is happy to pour his racism and willing to falsify information on social media.

Now we have evidence as to why we should dismiss his bullshit opinion.

The inevitable shrinking of the Miami Herald continues

The Miami Herald Media Company announced Tuesday it will move its printing and packaging operations to Broward County. The South Florida Sun Sentinel will begin printing the Miami Herald and el Nuevo Herald at its Deerfield Beach facility starting April 26.

The newspapers have been printed in Doral since the company moved from its downtown Miami headquarters in 2013.

Miami Herald to close production plant, move printing operations to Broward County

The Herald has been disconnected from the people they were supposed to inform for a long time now. And yes, the new era of news online has to affect the old way of doing business, but you still need to produce content that is of interest for your population. The Herald’s Top People have been missing clues on how things have changed:

The Doral printing plant was built in 2012 and 2013 on a six-acre parcel next to the Miami Herald Media Company’s headquarters at 3511 NW 91st Ave. The printing press building was sold in February 2016 for $13.85 million to the pension plan of McClatchy, parent company of the Miami Herald and el Nuevo Herald. The property and building is assessed by Miami-Dade County for tax purposes at $14.5 million.

You build a massive printing shop and then in less than three years, you have to sell it? Ands now you have to subcontract your printing needs to the paper from the next county? Somebody added two plus two and got twenty two. That is not a financial; punch in the nuts but a harsh kick in the gonads.  And believe you me, it is not the executives the ones that paid for it.

But the paper will continue to be printed because thousands of bird cages need poop liners.
