Do the math in California in 2020

I saw this on Fox News:

DOJ says citizenship question being dropped from 2020 Census: NY attorney general’s office

The New York attorney general’s office said Tuesday the Justice Department has decided to print the 2020 Census without the citizenship question sought by the Trump administration, ending a contentious legal dispute over an issue that could soon affect the makeup of Congress and the Electoral College.

The Supreme Court ruled last week that the question couldn’t be added for now, but left open the possibility that additional arguments could change its mind. Civil rights groups argued that the Trump administration’s reasons for including the question were merely pretextual efforts to discourage illegal immigrants from responding to the Census.

Population counts from the Census are used to apportion House seats among the 50 states, and a new electoral map based on the Census will be in effect for the 2024 presidential election. States receive votes in the Electoral College equal to the number of members in their congressional delegation, counting both House and Senate seats.

In a tweet on Monday, Daniel Jacobson, who worked in the White House Counsel’s Office under President Obama, said a trial attorney at the Justice Department told him that “the printer has been instructed to begin the printing process” without the citizenship question.

“We won,” Jacobson wrote.

A quick Google search for “people leaving California” comes up with a number of hits.

From CNBC: More Californians are considering fleeing the state as they blame sky-high costs, survey finds.

From ABC10: Why are so many people moving out of California?

From KTUV: California Exodus: Study says more people leaving state than moving here.

From Quartz: The California exodus is speeding up.

This article contains this important paragraph:

People have long dreamed of moving to California, but increasingly the people in the state are looking to get out.

According to recently released data from the US Census, about 38,000 more people left California than entered it in 2018. This is the second straight year that migration to the state was negative, and it’s a trend that is speeding up. Every year since 2014, net migration has fallen.

Right now, California has 53 Congressional seats.

One might expect that with several years of outgoing population, California might lose a seat or two.  At most, it might stay the same.

But consider that California is now a sanctuary state.

So I will be curious as to what happens to Congressional apportionment in California in 2020.

If California gains seats while tracking years worth of population loss of residents moving out of the state, I wonder who is making up the difference.  It would not be hard to figure out.

The question after that is “what happens next?”

What happens when we have proof that the number of illegal immigrants in a Blue state is enough to reapportion Congress, and therefore the shift the balance of the electoral college as well, for one party?

I don’t think that will go over well with a lot of the American people.

The New York Times Opinion editors can jam a bottle rocket in their a** on the 4th of July

Independence Day is two days away.  So without a doubt, the Progressives in America have to go balls to the wall to Progsplain to the rest of us knuckle dragging patriots why America sucks.

This year, The New York Times Opinion board made an entire 4 minute and 41 second video about the mediocrity of America.

Fuck that noise.

First of all, a couple of minor points:

There is nothing more ridiculous than the OECD rankings.  The OECD is a French based organization, and has consistently been lead by non-Americans.  It, like the UN and other international organizations, is biased against the United States.

So what a bunch of elitist Frenchy fucks think about us isn’t worth a wet, sloppy fart to me.

Could our high schools be better?  Sure.

But where does half of the world’s scientific research come from?  The United States of America, that’s where.

What does “healthcare spending” have to do with national rankings?  We still have the best healthcare in the world.  It’s Europeans and Canadians who come to Sloan-Kettering or the Mayo Clinic when they want to not die of cancer waiting in line for their turn for treatment on their national healthcare systems.

For that matter, what has fucked the cost of our healthcare system sideways is those God damned Progressives trying to turn America into Europe.  The more government they put into healthcare, the worse it is, not the better.

The fact is comparing our poverty rate or infant mortality rate (which is only higher by fractions of a percent) is the result of America being the largest and most diverse of the nations in the OECD.  We have 330 Million people of every race and ethnicity on the planet.

Comparing us to anywhere is apples and oranges.  It is easy for a small, ethnically and culturally homogeneous country to be relatively equally prosperous.  If you compare America to other more diverse nations, we stand head and shoulders above the rest.

Compare America to Paris or Malmo or London, where their new found lack of homogeneity and lack of integration has turned those areas into open are sewers where they are constantly stabbing or throwing battery acid at each other.

Speaking of stabbings and acid throwing, how come that was never mentioned along side our rate gun violence?

What really tears it for me was the “but we have freedom in America and everyone’s jealous or something.”

Not everyone is jealous.  There are people, lots of people, who would and have traded their freedoms for government micromanagement of their lives that comes with free government shit.

These people are called Europeans, and in the United States they are called Liberals or Progressives.

That is what The New York Times wants and when they care about the OECD ranking and sneer at America.

They want a nation were we all pay 50% or more in taxes and bureaucrats tell us what we can buy, and do, and how to live, but in exchange we get free college and healthcare.

That’s Europe.  Where if you want to start your own business, it’s almost impossible, sharing a meme on Facebook will get your thrown in jail, and you get more time in prison for punching the guy that tries to stab you and steal your moped than  does the guy who tries to stab you and steal your moped.

There is a quote by Samuel Adams the perfectly sums up the difference between Americans like you regular readers of this blog and I, and Europeans and The New York Times Opinion staff.

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

I prefer liberty and the animating contest of freedom.  I will accept the risk of failure pitted against the glory of overwhelming success.

They prefer to live lives of bureaucratic servitude in exchange for government handouts, essentially reduced to human livestock.

Frankly, The New York Times Opinion editors can go from us in peace.  I am happy to forget they are my countrymen.

And if they don’t shut the fuck up on the 4th of July, I am happy to roast hotdogs and marshmallows over a bonfire of The New York Times building.

Nike is the newest company to discover Go Woke, Go Broke

Colin Kaepernick is a like a hemorrhoid for the NFL, i.e., an inflamed asshole that can’t be soothed and won’t go away.

For some reason, Nike decided to hitch their wagon to him.

Yesterday, he dragged them over the cliff.

The Tweet says it all.  Nike was going to make a commemorative pair of sneakers featuring the Betsy Ross flag.  Kaepernick said it was a racist and oppressive symbol because it was the flag at the time that America had slavery.  Nike canceled the shoe.

Then this happened on the Twitter feed of the Governor of Arizona.

According to Fox News:

Nike planned to build a massive manufacturing plant in Goodyear, investing $184.5 million, according to ABC 15. The plant reportedly was going to create more than 500 jobs.

Goodyear agreed to waive nearly $1 million in plan review and permit fees to bring the plant into the city, The Arizona Republic reported. The city also planned to reimburse Nike $1 million for the jobs the company was set on creating.

That’s not as bad as Delta getting hit with $40 million in fuel taxes for ending their discount with the NRA, but it’s still something.

Here is what I think should happen, honestly and sincerely.

This needs to come down to the share holders.  These companies react to the radical Left on social media because those voices are loud and annoying.  What happens is this annoys the majority of moderate Americans who don’t want companies involved in politics, preening and preaching to them.

The company suffers financially.

What shareholders need to do is start hitting the executives who make these hasty decisions with Breach of Fiduciary Duty suits.  If I were a Nike shareholder, I’d be demanding that the Nike executive management team pay for the loss of those tax incentives straight out of their salaries so it doesn’t impact the company’s profits.  Management can go woke on their own dime.

I can’t see any other way to make these business leaders understand that trying to appease the 5% of shrieking Leftists on Twitter makes the rest of the nation not want to buy their stuff.
