Gun Free Zone

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) displayed guns as props during her announcement of her proposed assault weapons ban. However, the guns on display break DC gun laws- as reported by CNN.

Sen. Feinstein got special permission and does not have to abide by the law.

The funny (sad) part is that they do not see the contradiction. Not the politicians, not the press, not the intelligentsia.

We officially have a Royal Class of Citizens in the United States. They are above the law and get to do as they want without fearing repercussions.

Lemme see if I get this right: This Administration thinks it would be OK for a woman to grab an M4 rifle and go to the front lines to kill the enemies of the country but it would be stupid and unthinkable for the same woman to use that rifle to defend herself, her family and her home?

Unexpected bonus from the previous post: A comment left at the “Persecute Gun Threats” petition in Change.org by one Rebecca Cameron.

I am guessing she is exaggerating just a wee bit much? By tomorrow she’ll be seeing the sharks with frigging laser beams attached to their heads and call it a conspiracy by the NRA and the Oceanic/Industrial/Military Complex.

Apparently the new Intern working Social Media for the Coalition to Stop Gun Rights Violence had a wee bit problem differentiating between “prosecute”  and “persecute.” You know it is bad when even its followers had to point out the correction at least 9 times before something was done and that was a generous application of memory hole.

Truth be told, I am not sure if CSGV really cares if we are prosecuted or persecuted.

When you actively seek to disarm me you are deliberately attempting to subjugate me and put my family in mortal jeopardy — that fact makes you my enemy. The Bill of Rights of the Constitution of the United States did not create the rights of man; it simply enumerated and affirmed them. When you seek to nullify or circumvent the Constitution of the United States as well as the Constitutions of each individual State, you are my enemy.

West Virginia legislature massacred a slew of anti gun bills introduced recently:

Included in the defeated bills are the following:

SB 785 – Would have made a gun owner liable if his gun was taken and misused.

SB 1281 – Would have required “universal background checks” in Virginia.

SB 1136/SB 1232 – Both would have required “universal background checks.”

SB 1012 – To prohibit guns in the General Assembly except by legislators and police.

SB 1148 – Ban on magazines holding more than 10 rounds.

Another bill (SB 1001), aimed at ending the “gun show loophole,” was defeated as well. However, supporters may try to re-introduce it to the legislature, making it a bill Virginia gun owners need to keep an eye on.

Keep an eye on your state’s legislature as it will be the next battleground. Executive Powers are iffy and Congress does not look too good right now for Gun Control (Which does not mean you should lower your guard, keep pounding them) so the Opposition thinks going at state level is the best way to divide efforts and get laws passed. They wanted NY State to be a shiny example and it did became an example of crappy over reaching legislation that now is under review and amendments need to be done because they screwed it up big time.

As per the article in The Seattle Times:

A Washington state lawmaker last week withdrew a bill to limit self-defense rights after saying she receiving threats by telephone and email that have made her fear for her life.

ZOMG! Them evil Gun Nuts! What did they say to that poor woman?

(Rep. Appleton’s assistant) Bezon declined to provide copies of emails or transcripts of voice messages to The Associated Press, saying she wanted to spare Appleton, who has not seen the worst of them, the details contained therein.

Whut?? But, Are we supposed to take the word of the assistant? Should we?

One of the perceived threats was forwarded to the state House of Representatives’ security office, said House Security Director Mark Arras.
“There was no direct or immediate threat, but there was disturbing language,” said Arras, adding that his office discussed it with the Washington State Patrol and continues to monitor the situation.

I have the feeling that somebody said “damn” on the voice mail, the assistant (and maybe the whole office) and freaked out. Or maybe the deluge of calls opposing her bill was so overwhelming that the only way she could drop it without losing face was to use the old  “They threatened me!”  excuse.
