Let us begin with this OpEd from the Seattle Times:

Police chief’s decision to quit may have just saved Seattle from itself

No, it hasn’t but there is still useful information to be gleaned from this story.

This is a bit of a forensic account of what happened to cause Carmen Best to quit.

It’s important to retrace a bit where the provision to slash Best’s salary by 40% came from — as that was the moment, Best says, when “the animus felt personal.”

Because it came from Kshama Sawant.

This is crucial, as Sawant’s goals are unique, and aren’t always aligned with the Black Lives Matter movement or others at City Hall.

But on the morning of the budget committee vote on Aug. 5, Sawant put in an amendment to cut the salaries of Best and her command staff. It was so new it wasn’t listed on the agenda, and it hadn’t yet been vetted much by council staff (the amount of money to be saved was at the time listed as “$XX” because staff hadn’t even had time to calculate it).

After only a few minutes of questions about whether it was legal to modify employment contracts midstream (council staff wasn’t sure of that either, while Sawant insisted it was), the council backed the pay cuts with a 6 to 3 vote.

But the one person you didn’t hear expressing any regret was Sawant. That’s because she wants political bombs like this to go off.

At rallies this summer, she has expressed support for completely abolishing police (to which she adds that the police’s paymaster, the capitalist system, must be taken down, too).

“And that will only happen when we fight a revolution!” she urged at the Capitol Hill Organized Protest in June.

In addition to defunding Chief Best, it was Sawant who offered a plan of police cuts so deep that staff wrote “SPD may not be able to make this reduction without eliminating all or nearly all staff.” Even knowing this — that her plan could lay off the entire department — she pushed it to a vote anyway (it didn’t pass).

So the resignation of one chief? That’s just the appetizer.

Kshama Sawant put forth a TBD cut to the chief of police’s salary that was intended to cause the chief to quit.  She put forth a resolution to cut the police budget that was intended to cause police layoffs.

It is important to know that Kshama Sawant is an avowed communist.  She is a mouthpiece for Socialist Alternative which is a Trotskyist political party.

She is the city council member that pushed the Amazon wealth tax.

She was also a leader in the formation and defender of the CHAZ/CHOP.

She is now the de facto leader of the Seattle City Council and clearly has more influence than the mayor.

The purpose of this is clear.  To eliminate the threat of the police to her communist Antifa goon squad and what they are doing next.

What has been the result of this?

Nightly property destruction.

And Antifa threatening businesses that report property destruction.

This is driving business out of the city.

A communist leader encouraging violence against business owners and driving them to exile.  We have a word for that: dekulakization.

Today the Left calls these people gentrifiers instead of Kulaks, but it is exactly the same thing.

These people have and the violent socialist want it, so are attacking those who have and destroying and stealing their property.

Just as dekulakization lead to a famine in the Soviet Union, this anti-gentrification violence will lead to an economic famine in the city.

Seattle is undergoing a low-grade Soviet-style communist revolution.  This is happening in real-time before our eyes.

  1. When I first began pointing out that we were seeing a Communist insurgency that was attempting to overthrow the government, I had people call me crazy. It seems that more and more people are beginning to see what is happening.

  2. DM, I didn’t say that. But I did think you were a little alarmist.

I also thought these huge blue cities were led by people that wanted their cities to succeed. No, they are committing suicide, and their voters are handing them the razorblades.

In the Minnesota primaries in Minneapolis, several normal semi-sane long time DFL state representatives were voted out for more progressive, defund the police, free the criminals radical candidates.

Read about the Russian Revolution, Spanish Civil War, and Germany Post WW1. The parallels are frightening.

    1. When I first saw people saying that communists were trying to take over, I thought they were alarmist, too.

Then it hit me. If a group tells you that they are communists and that they want to overthrow the government, why wouldn’t you believe them?

History is replete with examples where groups wrote books detailing what they wanted to do, no one believed them, and the society wound up paying for it: Das Kapital, Mein Kampf, etc

With that being said, they are telling us what they plan to do:

  3. Nice of them to run a “Consumer Reports” style “road test” of “Soviet Revolution v 2.0” for us.

I can hardly wait for the review in the magazine.

  4. That looks like something from one of the Batman/Joker movies. Perhaps the one with Heath Ledger. (A better movie than the one with Jack Nicholson overall, imo, but JM’s sheer malevolent evil is still the Joker to beat.)

  5. At some point, free citizens who won’t be bullied or intimidated need to stand up and start shooting terrorists.

  6. A dozen Appleseed alumni and a case of 5.56 and this all would stop.

Sadly there’d be long prison sentences for them, unless they get pardons. And regardless, we need a long, long educational campaign to teach people what socialism actually involves.
