On Friday, November 5, Lubbock Police found Chad Read, 54, dead at a home in the 2100 block of 90th street. Police say through the initial course of the investigation, it appears there was a fight between Read and another man related to a domestic incident, and shots were fired.
Carruth’s now-ex-wife filed a countersuit in her divorce proceedings to exclude her ex-husband from their Lubbock home on 9th Street.
In the affidavit, according to the newspaper, Anne-Marie Carruth wrote she was “notified that my husband, William Kyle Carruth, is under investigation for the shooting and killing of his girlfriend’s children’s father after he attempted to pick up his children late Friday afternoon. My knowledge of the incident is very limited at this time, and it is my understanding that the police are still investigating.”

One dead and the other probably on his way to prison.
And I believe that was a Ruger PC Carbine.
I have a problem with a judge getting the file sealed because her soon to be ex husband is involved.
Stupid games, stupid prizes.
Notice that the guy with the rifle shot a warning shot into the ground at the soon-to-be dead man’s feet. Tough guy says something like “go ahead”.
He was not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Prison for what?
I only know what I see in the video, from both sides.
I’m seeing assault, battery, criminal trespass, attempted housebreaking/B&E, and making terroristic threats from the deceased, along with trying to wrest the gun from the property owner who clearly told the man to leave the premises, more than once.
I’m pretty sure after the first five crimes, you lose any right to self-defense, and as it turns out, his @$$ wasn’t bullet-proof.
His mouth wrote a check, and his body cashed it.
No bill.
And gf’s custody problems just got resolved.
Deceased’s mother(?) egging the whole thing on gets her a restraining order of her own.
Custody problems are always ugly. I’m sure everyone involved feels bad now, but the only criminal action I can see was on the part of the deceased, and whatever other parties accompanied him (which, incidentally, makes it a felony criminal conspiracy and manslaughter, minimum, for the surviving trespasser(s), if the D.A so chooses), and they refused to depart when instructed.
But he’s gone now.
(Personally, I’d probably have shot him a lot sooner, and there wouldn’t have been a warning shot.)
But if Dumbass Read had waited at the property line, he’d be alive today to drag the gf into court for violating visitation orders, and he’d be the good guy in that action. Instead, he’s a dead loudmouth hothead. And got rewarded accordingly.
Thus endeth the lesson.
