Er… No? The bill (H.R. 822) states the following:
‘(b) A person carrying a concealed handgun under this section shall be permitted to carry a handgun subject to the same conditions or limitations that apply to residents of the State who have permits issued by the State or are otherwise lawfully allowed to do so by the State.
The Talking Head (I have no idea who she is) then goes to rant about State’s Rights and that we should make the laws regarding guns accordingly to the state. Louisiana has way too many armed rednecks so it is OK to carry but Detroit, a cesspool of criminals should keep his law abiding citizens disarmed so they can be better victims.
Yep, that makes sense. Now, do we tell her about where reciprocity among the States stands as of right now? Apparently my Florida CWP is valid in 34 States.

State’s rights?
We are limiting the government, State and Federal, everywhere we go. The State (the governing body) CANNOT discriminate against you, the peaceable armed citizen. THAT is the basic ideal of the limited government GOP I have heard about, much as I disagree with the GOP on other issues.
Interestingly enough, these same antigun twits call for bans on CCW, or assault weapons, or handguns, etc, so so much for state’s rights in that regard.

That’s what concerns me — what is working now is being messed with. Because, in my limited experience, /anything/ that has become “federalized” has become a huge pile of stinking fewmets, and ultimately the *opposite* of American freedom.
I say, keep the feds out, and work aggressively to keep expanding gun right at the state level, in every state. Remember, in 1986, we had virtually NO CCW capability in almost any of the states, and now in 2011 we have CCW laws in every state but one –Illinois. (Yes, CA and others abuse the heck out of those laws, but continued action could see those bastions fall as well).
Robert, from what i read in the law I have no problem with it. There is very little text in it. The prologue is longer than the actual law.
I drove from Michigan to Oklahoma City to Memphis to Cincinnati and back to Detroit last week. Michigan’s relatively strict requirements means it is honored in most shall issue states. It would be nice to drive to NYC sometime as well.
