They are not curbing crime and without the NYPD regular citizens would be free to carry guns in self defense because there would be nobody to arrest them.
Getting rid of the NYPD wouldn’t allow citizens to defend themselves. The prosecutors are still around.
Who would be arresting them, then, if the NYPD weren’t around and the state police are pulled out of the city?
