The plot thickens. The following video is in Spanish but shows the immediate aftermath of the shooting. It also shows the Hialeah Public Information Officer Eddie Rodriguez giving pretty much the same version of events as he did in English.

I am guessing you saw the semi too. Apparently it was not a car what was stolen but the semi. The theft did not happen on that day but the day before and the owner (shooter) was not chasing the semi but found it after spending the day looking for it. Or at least that is what the Cuban Language TV is saying.

The shooter Orlando Garcia, did get arrested for Aggravated Battery. Aggravated battery is defined in the Florida Statutes as:

1. Intentionally or knowingly causes great bodily harm, permanent disability, or permanent disfigurement of another person; or

2. Uses a deadly weapon; or

3. If a person who was the victim of a battery was pregnant at the time of the offense and the offender knew or should have known that the victim was pregnant, then the offender may be guilty of the crime of aggravated battery.

The crime of aggravated battery is a second-degree felony which is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

  1. OK, now that changes everything. In the heat of the moment I can understand shooting the bastard. But hunting him down the following day, he’s lucky they only arrested him for aggravated battery, and not attempted murder.
