The tyrannical Left wants you to die for questioning the goalpost moving of the lockdown

First of all, we need to go over the idea of what it meant to “flatten the curve.

In epidemiology, the idea of slowing a virus’ spread so that fewer people need to seek treatment at any given time is known as “flattening the curve.” It explains why so many countries are implementing “social distancing” guidelines — including a “shelter in place” order that affects 6.7 million people in Northern California, even though COVID-19 outbreaks there might not yet seem severe.

The faster the infection curve rises, the quicker the local health care system gets overloaded beyond its capacity to treat people. As we’re seeing in Italy, more and more new patients may be forced to go without ICU beds, and more and more hospitals may run out of the basic supplies they need to respond to the outbreak.

A flatter curve, on the other hand, assumes the same number of people ultimately get infected, but over a longer period of time. A slower infection rate means a less stressed health care system, fewer hospital visits on any given day and fewer sick people being turned away.

In the language of calculus, the internal of each curve from beginning to end is the same, the difference is the simultaneous number of cases at the peak.

With the curve flattened, there will still be sick people. New people will be infected and some will die. However, the number of survivors should be better with a flatter curve because the number of sick at any one time does not overwhelm the ability of our health care system to take care of them.

Social distancing and the shutdown was supposed to last until the curve started to flatten.

It seems that in most of the country the curve never peaked. Other than a few localized hotspots (NYC, Detroit, NOLA) hospitals were not swamped. The doomsday scenario of people dying of Coronavirus, lying in hospital hallways because there were not enough beds and rooms and ventilators never materialized. In many places, hospitals have had to furlough workers as they delayed and canceled all non-immediately live-saving procedures.

The rest of America was held hostage by New York City. We couldn’t go back to work until they flattened their curve, and that appears to be finally happening.

However, just as this nightmare is coming to an end, the goalposts have been moved.

It’s no longer about flattening the curve to prevent our hospitals from being overrun. It’s about staying in lockdown until there is a vaccine or there are no new cases.

This is a ridiculous standard to try and achieve.

Consider that yesterday oil dropped to negative $40 per barrel.

The energy sector is about 9% of our GDP. Some of our largest companies are oil and gas producers and refiners. Overall, oil and gas supports 9.8 million jobs or 5.6% of all US jobs.

Only god knows what this will do to the economy.

This happened entirely because of the lockdown. People are not traveling, planes are not flying, driving is way down, and the consumption of goods made from plastics derived from petroleum is down.

The government shut us down and the oil industry in America died. That has never happened before.

We need to go back to work. We need to go back to normal. This lockdown cannot continue as-is for much longer or we will guarantee the destruction of our economy fro a generation.

Some very brave and enterprising people have started to protest the lockdown and want what we were promised. A reopening of America now that the curve has flattened.

How has the Left responded? Threatening those people with death and imprisonment.

If you exercise your First Amendment rights, the government can deny you health care. This really is a rining endorsement for government controlled health care. This is exactly what the Chinese do with their social credit system.

April Ryan is not alone in this.

I thought the Nazis were bad? Funny how the Left suddenly wants to emulate them.

This is an impossible standard. There is no way to prevent anyone from ever catching the Coronavirus ever again.

DOWN WITH THE FIRST AMENDMENT!

Petitioning your government for a redress of grievances to go back to work is the same as Al Qaeda.

The only reason to protest wanting to go back to work is because you are a racist and you should be punished for that.

Arrest people for wanting to go back to work.

Only stupid people want to go back to work. Small business owners who are going bankrupt are just illiterate idiots.

She’s just making shit up.

This goes along with the identifying badge. God the Left really love Nazi Germany right now, even if they hate Swastikas.

The Left has moved the goalposts to keep the economy shut down in perpetuity, and if you protest you deserve to get arrested and die.

The Coronavirus has really brought out their inner tyrant.

Trump to suspend immigration. I think he is looking south.

President Trump announced late Monday he will soon sign an executive order “to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States,” in what appeared to be a drastic escalation of his efforts to fight the coronavirus pandemic and boost the economy.

Trump to ‘suspend immigration into the United States’ by executive order amid coronavirus

I believe we are about to see a major explosion of cases in South America. So far, they have been spared because they were the last area the virus moved too, but I have the feeling it is about to change. The problem is, I bleieve it is already there, but te countries are being less than truthful about the cases. You guys saw the post of the craziness in Guayaquil, Ecuador with government officials admitting to the BBC about the more than a thousand corpses picked up, yet the “official” number as of this posting is only 507 for the whole country.

A hospital in the country side of Colombia just saw his personnel quit en masse because they do not have the proper equipment to take care of the patients or safety gear for themselves. Officially Colombia only has 3,977 cases and 189 deaths with a population of 49 million, which should not be enough to tax the health system of the country.

In Venezuela, the government says it only has 285 cases with 10 deaths, yet they close down access to Nueva Sparta State (Margarita Island) and imposed martial law with a curfew from 4:00 pm till 10:00 am.  The reason? Covid-19.

I haven’t checked other countries, but I can almost smell something brewing. When I see parsimony and quietness from south of the border, my neck’s hair stands up.

I do hope I am wrong.

A little bit of ‘Murica in NYC and LA

The other day I wrote about how New York was asking residents to rat each other out to a text message hotline for not social distancing.  Before that, Miguel wrote a post about Los Angeles filing in a beach skate park with sand because something, something the virus.

As it turns out there are still some Americans left in NYC and LA who will not accept such petty tyrannies.

In New York:

A flood of spam texts causes mayor’s new 311 social distancing text tip line to temporarily go offline

A flood of spam text messages to the city’s new 311 social distancing tip line caused a glitch in the agency’s system, a spokesperson for 311 said.

But on Sunday evening, 311 said it had to temporarily disable the text line for a short period of time to allow 311 to go through the que of photos after “being flooded with spam texts.”

“311 is augmenting staff this week and plans to assign additional headcount to the text queue to better address these conditions in the future,” 311 spokesman William Reda said.

The news doesn’t do the situation justice given this bit of anonymously provided information.

Goddam, do I love this.

When a mayor of an American city asks you to rat out your fellow citizens for exercising just a tiny bit of freedom, you go right ahead and crash his snitch line.

It should be the patriotic duty of all freedom-loving Americans to text the NYC snitch line cat memes and porn GIFs until it never works again.

Over to the other side of the country, in Los Angeles, local youths set about digging out some of the sand and using the skate park in an alternative fashion.

It is good to see that the spirit of resistance still exists in two of our Bluest bubbles.

The pro-tyranny in the face of the ‘Rona party might have overplayed their hand when they started arresting lone people running on the beach and saying that you can’t buy tomatoes at the Home Depot.

I hope that more and more, as these bite-size Stalins exert their influence, the people push back even harder.

If an expert can defeat it, it is useless

And now, another video from J. Kb.’s favorite Youtuber:

Mind you, this guy is a gun owner, but he is now to the point he has ceased to see the world through the eyes of the common people or even common sense.

Dindu Nothing and his cousin Juan “Yono” Izenada do not carry expensive sets of lockpicks or custom made ones or powerful magnets or RFID reader with them to go break into cars so they can scoop the spare change from the cup holders. They are meth heads that would have probably already pawned all that crap for a quick hit.

We know that car burglars spend less than a minute ransacking a car they find unlocked and most of them know that being caught with what cops can tag as burglary tools, may bring you a felony charge depending on the state.

Just because you are really good at cracking locks, it does not me all those locks are useless for the purpose the buyers intend. I am sure he can design a shotgun lock that is almost undefeatable, but it will probably cost so much the police departments will ignore it and keep the ones they have.

“Realistic” De-Escalation – Force Science Institute

Next, unless you’re using medicine, de-escalation is not something you do “to” a person. Non-coercive de-escalation is recognizing, creating, and maintaining conditions that allow someone to de-escalate their own emotions.2 Realistic de-escalation recognizes that not everybody is able or willing to de-escalate.

And, although de-escalation training is aimed at reducing the number of police shootings involving people with mental illness “behaving dangerously,” realistic de-escalation recognizes that de-escalation attempts may be unreasonable precisely because of dangerousness or mental illness.

“Realistic” De-Escalation

Although it is for LEOs, it has information we may very well learn and use.

I know the term has been abused, but the more tools you have in you toolbox, the less probability you’ll end up wearing orange rompers courtesy of the local PD.
