Florida GOP Legislators begin the quest of seeking re-election.
The head of a certain gun coalition had a chat with Sen. Keith Perry (R- 8th district) and he was explained why the GOP voted for SB 7026.
Then he went on to say that when he voted for 7026 he did so not realizing that it may have unconstitutional parts in it. He admits that he now thinks that there may be issues with parts of the Bill he did not consider before and that if he finds that his thoughts change and he thinks the Bill is unconstitutional he would fight to get it struck down or changed. Great! What more can someone ask for right?
Immediately by BS Detector went off the charts. This sounds too frigging close to what politicians in the 80s and 90s kept babbling every time a bad bill went through and needed an escape “hatch”:
“We made the best decision with the information we had available at the time.”
This response was very popular right after Columbine demonstrated that Gun Free Zones were an abject failure. And if you have not noticed, the Gun Free Zones are still with us, why? Politicians lie.
Then when Keith started talking about the alternatives and what could very well happen if the State of Florida switches and is ruled by the Democratic party, it dawned on me, why the Republicans passed this Bill! Although he did not come out and say it in so many words, I realize now why they passed this most terrible, unconstitutional bill.
Imagine for a minute that you have a choice between having the Democrats take control of the House and Senate or passing a Bill that you purposely make so vague in parts, unconstitutional in others that you know those parts will be struck down or rendered unenforceable later.
And now come the Scare Tactics. “OK, we fucked up. We fucked up bad but are you gonna do? Vote for the Democrats? Huh? No bitch, you vote for me!”
You know? I am not gonna vote for the Democrats, that is for sure. But voting for you again after you shafted us? I am guessing that little box next to your name in the ballot will remain unchecked.
If the Republicans had not passed this or a similar Bill, then the Dems would cry that the Republicans don’t care about our kids (false) that the Republicans do not want to stand up to the NRA (not true and not an issue), the students from Parkland would not have said that they got the Florida Legislators to pass “gun control” legislation.
The Democrats always cry. It is their standard behavior in front of a camera. They always say Republicans do not care for kids (Do It For The Children!) and if you are saying we are supposed to respect Florida Senators because they weak and bowed to a bunch of high-schoolers used like political puppets by Gun Control groups, then you are giving me another reason to stay home and watch reruns of South Park on Election day
All of those things were taken away when they passed this Bill. They took the ammunition away from the Dems for the next elections and actually turned the tables on them. Now the Republicans can say “We passed the School Safety Act!” and use that against the Dems, who most of them voted against the Bill because they knew that if it passed they lost all of the steam and ammunition they had for the upcoming election. IT WAS ALL POLITICS.
It was all politics? No shit? Holy crap we would have never figured it out, Sparky. And in other news, there is no Santa Clause either.
Let me see if I can make this clearer: Democrats will never stop trying to kill the Second Amendment. They are bankrolled by wealthy people, have free media time and have no problem making up shit and lying to the public. They are not gonna concede or give kudos to the Republicans because they passed SB 7026. In fact the media celebrated the passing of the first gun control law in 20 years. The Florida GOP legislature gave them ammo in the form of looking weak and telling others Gun Owners are no longer an influential segment of the population.
So I will not let emotions rule my vote next election. I will not vote out those that voted for the bill, just because of that one bill.
It is your right and your conscience.
I now understand better the game they had to play, and play it well they did. Politics at its finest! parts they really did not want to be struck down by other parts of our Legislative and Judicial branches. I say brilliant! While I wished we had not passed “bad” legislation when looked at in that light, and of the “long-term” consequences, it makes sense. And by the way, it was the term “long-term consequences” that gave away the reason for this bill passing.
Apparently you are still in pee wee football league and need to learn more how the game is played. You were seduced by a GOP Senator who is also a roofing contractor.*
So to all of my fellow gun rights supporters and Constitutional supporters, yes this bill stinks, and yes parts are unconstitutional and will fall to the scrutiny that it deserves, and what will be left behind?
The bill was avoidable on its totality. And come November nobody is gonna give two shits about the law other than us and the GOP idiots that did not get re-elected.
The school safety part, and the ability of the Republicans to say truthfully they passed legislation in response to the times and emotions of many, yet knowing exactly they did it for the reason of taking the ability of the Democrats to hit them on gun rights and school safety next election away.
Again Bullshit: They could have easily allocated the half billion dollars on providing one or two armed officers to every school in Florida. A simple bill. Rather they made a fucking hash of the whole thing.
While Sen. Perry would not come right out and say that in so many words, I saw it and “read between the lines” and realize now why and that it was a smart political move. While I don’t like the Bill any more than I did before, I now understand the strategy behind it, and realize just how politically it was smart.
Nope, you just got seduced.
So I will not let emotions rule my vote next election. I will not vote out those that voted for the bill, just because of that one bill. I now understand better the game they had to play, and play it well they did. Politics at its finest! I don’t like it any better, but I understand why they did it.
Then you may want to add failure to get us Open Carry and Campus Carry to the basket. For fuck’s sake, they even dropped School Carry which was a sure thing. Are we suffering from battered wife’s syndrome? “I know he hit me, but he really loves me and it was my fault I made him mad”?
We need to grow up, grow a pair and kick the idiots out of the legislature.
*The Florida equivalent of the sleazy used car salesman is the roofing contractor.
BSO Deputy asleep on the job, Students bring weapons. NRA blamed, Democrats renew calls for an Assault Weapons Ban.
I saw somecooment in Twitter and I thought it was The Onion at first… nope.

Two Marjory Stoneman Douglas students were arrested Tuesday for bringing knives to school and a third is being evaluated for making online threats.
Meanwhile, a school deputy has been suspended for sleeping on the job after being caught by a student on Monday evening, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
The student notified a sergeant patrolling the school that Deputy Moises Carotti was asleep in his patrol car, said Veda Coleman-Wright, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office.
The sergeant knocked on Carotti’s window to wake him up, she said. Carotti was suspended with pay while an internal affairs investigation is launched.
Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said he was disheartened to learn of the allegations against Carotti.
Two students arrested at Stoneman Douglas on weapons charges; deputy suspended for sleeping
I am joking about the Democrats renewing calls for a new rounds of “Assault Weapons” Ban, then again I would not be surprised if they did and our GOP legislators would come up with some stupid legislation to soothe the animals. In the meantime, BSO keeps demonstrating its incompetence, Sheriff Israel still has a job and same for the school superintendent and the school board members.
If the real-life joke was not bad enough, when I clicked on the article and started reading, a video came on and… it was accidentally illustrative to my point.
I swear, Florida and anything related to it is 100% surreal and then some.
Elections in less-than-free countries.
I saw this over Universal Spectator:
And it brought back an old joke from Venezuela in the 1950s when it was under the dictatorship of general Perez Jimenez and he had a referendum about continuing to be a “president” and a printer decided to be funny and create some pamphlets which were spread all over. It went something like this:
PAPELETA DE VOTACION
SI (Queremos que te quedes)
NO (Queremos que te vayas)
YES (we want you so stay)
NO (we don’t want you to leave)
The story tellers of the day do not know if the culprit was ever found, but the secret police went stupid for a while.
One way to fix School Shootings. Maryland version.
You shoot the asshole.
A gunman who shot and wounded two students at Great Mills High School in Maryland was killed Tuesday after engaging an armed school resource officer, an official said.
The shooter was the only fatality. A female student was critically injured and a male student was also shot but is in stable condition at a hospital, authorities said.
“Our school resource officer was alerted to the event. he pursued the shooter, engaged the shooter, fired a round at the shooter,” St. Mary’s County Sheriff Tim Cameron said. “The shooter fired a round as well. In the hours and days to come, we’ll be able to determine if our school resource officer’s round struck the shooter.
Shooter dead, two injured after shooting at Great Mills High School in Maryland
See? Low numbers. Game Over. You eliminate the temptation of having easy targets around and the fascination to be a Mass Shooter will eventually disappear.
Remember, they are crazy, not stupid; getting shot apparently hurts. Even if the want to commit suicide, they do not want to be known as the lame ass that failed.
Florida Constitution Revision Commission: Amendment by Commissioners Coxe, Plymale, Joyner, and Kruppenbacher
As usual, the link to the text itself is provided, go and check it. I am offering a summary of the amendment. I will stress that this are not just simple additions to the Florida Statutes but changes to the Florida Constitution that only happen every 20 years. That means if passed, they are set in stone and even the Florida Supreme Court will have to abide by them for the next two decades at least.

Commissioner Hank Coxe (Bio), Commissioner Sherry Plymale (Bio), Commissioner Arthenia Joyner (Bio) and Commissioner Frank Kruppenbacher (Bio) bring us the following amendment (Text here):
- ” Balancing a respect for, and under no circumstances violating, the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and as interpreted by the United States Supreme Court, with an equal respect for the lives of all citizens of Florida, it is the policy of the State of Florida that…” (Cute interpretation of Natural rights being somehow against Citizens and need to be controlled by the government and this making them privileges.)
- Mandatory waiting period of 10 days.
- Ban of “Assault Weapons” with no grandfathering provision.
- Ban on Bumpfire devices.
- Ban on magazines with more than nine (9) rounds.
This is possibly the nastiest of the bunch so far.
There is an obvious game play with all the amendments: “Hey Bubba, I have a bad amendment and a really shitty amendment, you get to pic one, if not, you may lose and get shafted by a tractor implement. Deal?”
Let’s not fall for it. All the commissioners will be pressured by the media and using Sinead Gonzales and Junior Goebbles Hogg as pity battery rams. We don’t have that kind of media access so we are to do a direct approach.
Here is the list of commissioners and how to reach them. use it wisely and often.
Once again, what gets approved with this Florida Constitution Revision Commission will stay for at least 20 years. By then we could be the New Jersey of the South.
Let’s try not to do that.
