From Castle Rock News-Press:

Castle Rock business draws crowd against public health orders

C&C Coffee and Kitchen, a breakfast and Korean kitchen at 4284 Trail Boss Drive, had a line out the door about 10 a.m. Mother’s Day. Families of all sizes filed in past a “bouncer” with a visible sidearm. Every seat was taken as folks dined in. The floor was packed with people standing, waiting for coffee or take-out orders. One person could be seen wearing a mask inside the building.

“I expected it to be busy. I never expected this,” owner April Arellano said. “I’m so happy so many people came out to support the Constitution and stand up for what is right. We did our time. We did our two weeks. We did more than two weeks…and we were failing. We had to do something.”

People went out in droves.

If you understand human behavior, this makes sense.  People have been shut in for weeks, they want to get out and have some fun.

The first weekend the beach or pool or golf course whatever is open for the season, it’s packed.  Restaurants would be no different.

Castle Rock is the county seat of Douglass County, Colorado.  It has a population of 285,000 and has had only 556 Coronavirus cases and 25 deaths.

I’m sure the people there will be fine.

Not for Dean Obeidallah.

I hate Dean Obeidallah.  He’s a Jew-hating piece of shit but puts the echo (the triple parenthesize) around his name in “solidarity” around his name to “combat anti-semitism” which is just cover for his Jew-hatred since he couches his Jew-hatred as anti-Zionism.  It’s disgusting.

But I digress…

This is going to be the next brickbat the Left uses to force the economy to destroy lockdown to continue in order to get Trump.

Threaten anyone who opens up with manslaughter or negligent homicide or in some other way makes people criminally liable if anyone to patrons their establishment catches COVID.

It would be almost impossible to state that one person dying of COVID happened because they went to one particular business on one particular day, and had that place not been open, said victim would still be alive, but the cost of fighting that charge would still be enough to bankrupt a business owner and make the rest think twice about opening back up.

But given all the other legal fuckery we’ve seen, this is would not be the most spurious thing the Left would have done to force more lockdown.

  1. “No one is above the law”, unless you’re the Obama justice department. See “Fast and Furious”, FISA Court fraud, Framing Gen. Flynn, etc. Oh and BTW a governor’s executive orders aren’t “the law”.

  2. I thought Mitch McConnell proposed a protection against prosecution law for exactly this reason. Similar to the PLCAA and other shield laws, this law would protect businesses against lawsuits as long as they were not negligent when operating.

And, in my opinion, that law should be totally unnecessary, however we are beyond that point.

    1. Indeed. Even PLCAA should not have been necessary, except that the anti-gun groups found a couple sympathetic judges who ordered that the lawsuits could proceed.

It’s something we should all have firmly embedded in our minds: We cannot count on the courts at any level to save us. The judicial system is charged with upholding and interpreting ALL the laws, but in actuality the individual judges interpret what they want, how they want, and disregard the rest. Juries are supposed to do better, being non-lawyers, but they still interpret within the frame set by a judge — which NEVER includes the age-old tradition of jury nullification of unjust laws.

No matter how strong your Constitutional case is — or alternatively, how unconstitutional the case against you is — a court trial is still a crap shoot. It’s far better than the kangaroo court trials other nations have, but at the end of the day, the fact it’s a crap shoot means we cannot count on the courts to save us.

  3. So in 2-3 weeks, when there’s no spike in either COVID cases or deaths in Castle Rock, will Dean Karen issue an apology?

I’m guessing no, because no matter what does or does not happen because of this, he’s “Right,” backed by “Science!”

It must be the new Common Core Science, where every predictive model you make can be orders-of-magnitude inaccurate — Every. Single. One. — but if you’re a Leftist it doesn’t mean you’re wrong. It just means you try again with a different cherry-picked data set until you find one that “works.” (Even if that data set is limited to only NYC, where they did literally everything wrong, and is almost entirely unlike anywhere else in America.)

Correlation is not causation … unless you’re of the “correct” political ideology. And causation cannot happen without correlation … unless you’re of the “correct” political ideology.

    1. “…where every predictive model you make can be orders-of-magnitude inaccurate — Every. Single. One. — but if you’re a Leftist it doesn’t mean you’re wrong.”

Interestingly, I have been pounding my Mayoral administration and City Assembly with those models. When they issued the stay at home orders it was because the models indicated the health care system would get overloaded. Now the very same models show a glut of available health care facilities. So, my question to them is why was the model believable when you used it to shut down the city, but now it is not reliable???

    2. Doomsaying and predictions of negative outcomes & dire consequences are usually a safe bet. Even if wildly inaccurate, one can say they were just being cautious, or that the steps taken averted the catastrophe.

  4. There’s more to the story, now. They’ve lost their license, indefinitely. For violating der Fuhrer’s orders.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
