The father of Alison Parker, the journalist shot dead on live television on Wednesday, has said that now he is campaigning for gun control he will probably have to get a firearm to defend himself. Andy Parker, spoke to reporters on Friday after he visited the television station, WDBJ7, where his daughter worked before being murdered – along with cameraman Adam Ward – by their former colleague Vester Lee Flanagan…

…Yet, Parker said that he is “probably going to have to get a gun” because of the culture in the United States.

“When you’re in the media, as you know, and when you are taking on an issue like this, there are a lot of people who take exception to what you are saying, so I will probably have to do that,” Parker said.

He does not currently own a gun, but said: “I don’t want to take any chances.”

I held as long as I could giving him the latitude he needs to deal with his grief. But one thing is to rant against Gun Owners and the NRA and a whole different level of hypocrisy is to say he will get a gun for his defense.

And for Gun Control groups demanding MOAR Background checks, it is hard to play the Father of the Victim ranting against the Rabid White Racist angle when the shooter is a black gay Obama voter who passed the background check and a waiting period.

They are trying, but not succeeding much.

  1. Hypocrite!

Where is Bloomberg, who ought to be financing this guy’s personal protection detail. He should not have to both assume responsibility for his own protection and pay for it out of his own pocket. Why, if he does that he will lose whatever credibility he may have had to begin with.

Once again gun owners in general and the NRA as a whole and its individual members are being called out as folks who just cannot wait to bust a cap at anyone who opposes “reasonable gun control”. If gun owners were as violent as anti gun rights folks claimed they are, there would be no anti gun rights owners left by now.

    stay safe.

  2. During the press conference where the above quotes came from, a reporter asked Parker, “have you received any death threats yet?” Then Parker replied, “I have not, but I don’t want to take any chances”.

Why would Parker just assume that he would get death threats for taking up gun control? He’s been coached. Keep in mind that he now wants to arm up against the ‘social gun culture’, not the thug culture that took his daughter’s life. That says a lot about him, and his coaching. He sounds a awful lot like Watts.

I’ve noticed too that the gun control cult has now changed their messaging to, “while these gun control measures that we’re proposing probably wouldn’t have stopped the killer, they would save other lives”, but fail to offer any proof.

  3. Does that automatically make him part of the gun culture now? Can we call him a “gun nut” now? He better watch out, the gun he buys might end up talking him into a NRA membership.

  4. What do facts have to do with these blithering (useful) idiots? I’m not sure how many gun-owners are supporting Bernie Sanders, but it’s not many. Not to break an internet law, but wouldn’t the first step towards National Socialism be electing Bernie?

And National Socialism isn’t healthy for living things.

  5. Wait, what? Anti-gun but yet he says he will be getting a gun. And if the laws he wants passed were to be in place, he’d have to wait months to legally acquire the gun that he says he needs. Though I have a feeling as a “media” person, the local police would gladly expedite his processing, whereas the poor lady down the street who is a victim of domestic violence would have to wait 90 days, and in the interim she’d be killed.
