Old NFO on firearm instructors

Maybe it’s time to look closer to home, to those local instructors that teach part time for not much money, because they want to share knowledge, and are willing to work with students on a case by case basis. They may not have one or more pages of ‘qualifications’ but they teach because they believe in what they are doing, and by and large are pretty cotton picking good too!

Lemme see…

Go read the whole thing: He hits the points I have made before about The Super Tactical Instructors that will teach you how to shoot while rappelling form a helicopter wearing too much Molle crap.

get an instructor that teaches you the basics of defensive pistol/rifle or shotgun and leave the Ninja shit for when you hit the lotto. The basics are the fundamental, anything else is just plain decorations.

Noah Webster is rolling over in his grave

The ghost of Noah Webster has been unpersoned by Mintrue.

They have embraced Newspeak where instead of being the arbiter of linguistic truth, they codify the linguistic whims of Leftists.

I want ratings data

It’s indefensible for Animal Planet to run the Puppy Bowl directly opposite the Super Bowl.

Except I expect the Puppy Bowl to have better ratings than a Biden town hall.

What I want is for this to happen and to get ratings data.

Forget polls.  I want to see how many people turn in to watch Biden vs. Trump.

Florida Concealed Weapon License latest numbers

I just saw J. Kb’s post and I figured it was time to recheck the licenses in Florida to see where we stand.

Last year in May, Florida surpassed the 2 million active licenses mark.

Since then, we have added almost  180,000 more and under the misguided guide of an Anti Gun Secretary of Agriculture owned by Moms Demand.

That is about under 12,000 licenses per month or 600 daily (Mon-Fri weeks) or about 75 an hour of a working day.

Obviously the goal is to eventually hace Constitutional Carry, but I do love having stats like that, specially the one that says 16,439 licenses revoked since October 1, 1987

I sort of wondered how about Driver’s licenses? Is anybody keeping track of suspended licenses in Florida? Apparently not and I could only find an article from the Sun Sentinel dated from 2018

Nearly 2 million of more than 14 million registered drivers in Florida have suspended licenses, many for offenses that have nothing to do with driving.

Often they have no idea, because notice of their suspensions are mailed to the address on their license, and often that is outdated. But if they are caught behind the wheel, they could land in jail, face a criminal record and a mountain of fees to pay.

Florida suspends nearly 2 million driver’s licenses. Help may be on way.

That is 14.3% (as usual check my math) of driver licenses suspended.  How about revocations of CWL?  A pitiful 0.3% of all permits ever issued.

But we are the evil criminals…

The character of a Judge

I’ve seen some of the highlights of the Amy Coney Barret hearing.

Mazie Hirono asked her if she was a rapist and then scolded her for using the “outdated” term “sexual preference” for LGBT people, implying she was a bigot because of it.  So did Cory Booker.

Then Senator Dick Durban, ever living up to his name and being a cock, went on a stupid tear about the Second Amendment.

He said gun shows in places including Gary, Indiana, sell firearms without background checks. “Unfortunately, these gangbangers and thugs fill up the trunks of their cars with firearms and head into the city of Chicago and kill everyone from infants to older people,” Durbin said.

Wich Illinois has routinely not prosecuted and has turned getting arrested for illegal gun possession into a revolving door crime.  But because Illinois has a Lefty Attorney General who doesn’t prosecute repeat offenders for gun trafficking, the Supreme Court has to crush the Second Amendment.

“I’m going to take you back in history for a moment and note that when that Second Amendment was written, and you did the analysis of it, we were talking about the likelihood that a person could purchase a muzzle-loading musket,” Durbin said.

“We are now talking about virtual military weapons that can kill hundreds of innocent people. It is a much different circumstance, maybe an originalist pins all their thinking to that musket, but I’ve got to bring it to the 21st century. And the 21st century has people being killed in the streets of Chicago because of the proliferation of deadly firearms,” he said.

The British Army conquered the world with muskets, but never mind, he’s got his talking points.

It amazes me Judge Barret is able to remain poised during this whole thing.

I’d be telling these people “oh shut the fuck up you dumb shit-for-brains motherfuckers.”

Good news from Newsweek on Concealed Carry

From Newsweek:

Ammo Shortage Hits U.S. as Concealed Handgun Permits Soar to Nearly 20 Million

“During President [Donald] Trump’s administration, the number of concealed handgun permits has soared to over 19.48 million–a 34 percent increase over 2016,” a Crime Prevention Research Center report released earlier this month said.

The report also said 17 states “no longer provide data on all the people who are legally carrying a concealed handgun because people in those states no longer need a permit to carry.”

“Permits for women and minorities continue to increase at a much faster rate than for either men or whites. Alabama has the highest concealed carry rate—28.5 percent of adults holding a permit, with Indiana in second with 18.7 percent,” the report said.

Five states were reported to have more than a million permit holders, while 7.6 percent of American adults have permits. Outside California and New York, about 9.2 percent of the adult population has a permit, according to the report.

Nearly 20 million people with CCW permits.  Outside New York and California still includes a lot of smaller, may issue states in the Northeast (Maryland, New Jersey, Massachusetts, etc.), and still, the CCW population approaches 10%.

I wonder what it is if you only count shall issue states.

“Business has been very brisk. People are concerned. We have a presidential election going on and it happens every four years, things get very busy.

“You have people that are buying guns who have never owned one before,” [Gene Smith, the co-owner of Hoover Tactical Firearm] added.

It is really starting to sink in that when the mob comes and you call 911, nobody is coming and you are on your own.

I know a lot of people in the comments will say “but they will still vote Democrat even though they are new gun owners.”

Maybe.  Sure some will, but I suspect that many won’t.

When you push a life long non-gun owner, especially a life long non-gun owning woman, into buying a gun for personal defense, that is a tectonic shift in their thinking.  That’s not something taken lightly.  They may not go full MAGA, but I don’t think they are going to stand in line to vote for Biden.

Honestly, I look at this news and wish I was in the Senate.

I would love to ask Judge Barrett, who is a member of the Seventh Circuit Court and ask her opinion on Moore v. Madigan, and if she thought that may issue concealed carry was constitutional given that the Seventh Circuit decided that the right to keep and bear arms meant the right to possess them outside one’s own home.

When 10% of the population has concealed carry, that seems evident to me that it’s time to break the may issue state and the limited reciprocity system, so that we have full 50 state (and DC) nation wide CCW.
